My name is Alexander Snitker. I am the Libertarian candidate for the US Senate. This thread was started to answer any questions that people may have in the Liberty Forest. Please check out my website www.snitker2010.com. In order to win I will need your support.

Thank you
Alex

You have a LOT of support here Mr. Snitker. Thanks for signing up! I'd be supporting you if I lived in Florida.

Folks, here's your chance to ask questions of a Senate candidate. Take the opportunity.

Do you support abolishing the united states federal government completely?

Hi Alex,

It's hard to ask a tough a question to someone that is in alignment with my views. But I'll try my best.

I know you are an advocate of the Fair Tax. I believe that the Fair Tax is a step better than the IRS and income tax, for moral and economic/efficiency reasons, but I'm more inclined to be of the mind that we should do away with the income tax and replace it with nothing. I realize that that cannot be done in one swoop, but it's an end that I would support. My question is, do you support the Fair Tax as an end within itself, or as an improvement from what we have now, say, a first step toward having neither the income tax or Fair Tax? My issue with the Fair tax is that if it's implemented, we'll end up with both, income and Fair Tax, or if the 16th amendment was repealed along with the implimentation of the Fair Tax, my worry is the Congress would still have the authority to set the rate at whatever it wants.

Secondly, who are your inspirations, or mentors, when it comes to economics? Would you consider yourself from the school of Mises, Rothbard, Hazlitt and Hayek ala hard/sound money, or do you believe that an entity such as our central bank should stay and be reformed ala Friedman and the Chicago School monetarists.

Whatever your answers, I was very happy when I heard you were running. You have my vote.

Thanks.

Brandon, I do not support abolishing the united states federal government completely. I want to return it to it's constitutional limits.

Guitarzan, I believe that the FairTax is just the beginning not the end goal. I believe that we need to box the federal government in and shrink it from there. We also have to address federal spending. That is the only way we can save this country. Much of the damage has already been done. What we need is the enviroment for businesses to thrive.

The FairTax would create the enviroment for business and manufacturing to return to this country. We need to repeal the 16th and make sure the only taxes the Federal government can collect is through the Fair Tax.

I do not believe in a central bank and do believe in hard money. I would support the Audit of the Federal Reserve First and the competing currency act. After that ending the Federal Reserve would garner much more support.

My inspiration for running for office is people like Ron Paul. He woke me up to the facts about sound money and the proper role of government. I wish I was listening a decade ago. Now that I know the truth running for office and against the political class was vital.

Got any big plans to garner attention, like when you interrupted that debate?

We do have some plans to garner media attention soon. Nothing I want to give out yet but soon we will let you know.

I do not know when we will be in Jacksonville next but please look at the calendar on www.snitker2010.com

Marco Rubio voted for the HB7135 "Florida Cap and Trade Bill" http://www.myfloridahouse.gov/sections/Bills/billsdetail.aspx?BillId=39607, and so did Charlie Crist

Too many still think we should vote within the two parties because nobody outside of the system has a chance. However George Washington, in his "Farewell Speech" , warned against the two party system saying there would be those who would use it against us. We need to break that strangle hold of the two party system in this case. http://avalon.law.yale.edu/18th_century/washing.asp

Alex,
I live in Florida and will probably vote for you. I might think of a question or two for you later, but for now I want to thank you for posting here and say that I've really enjoyed a few of your speeches posted to You Tube.

Hey Alex, didn't notice this thread until now. I've heard you speak a few times on the local stations, you do great in interviews.

My only question, as a former LP congressional candidate, would be...why run as an LP candidate as opposed to taking Ron Paul's lead and run as a Republican?

I can certainly understand sticking with the party that had principle before Bob Barr, but Rand Paul would have lost as an LP candidate as opposed to taking the route that he did.

Btw, I live right next to Spring Hill, would love to grab a beer with ya some time.

my answer

Elwar,

I think that it is no longer possible to change the Republican party and we must run outside of it if we stand a chance to return this country to the constitutional republic our founders started.
