Grassroots Push for Ron on The Ellen DeGeneres Show

I'm not a fan of this idea. We had a good experience with Jay Leno beforehand and it was reasonable to say that he would've been treated respectfully beforehand. But this is a very awkward setting for Ron. I don't think grassroots is thinking it through on this one.

Well I don't believe everyone will be super excited about this, but the truth is it would be a net benefit.

1. Ellen's target market is women between the ages of 25 and 54; Paul doesn't poll well with them.
2. Ellen doesn't focus on issue, she's a comedian.
3. Many folks think Paul comes off as grumpy sometimes, this would be a chance to show Ron's funny/human side.
4. Over 2 million viewers.
5. This would be blogged about by a lot of women.
6. We would have more Youtube clips.
7. ??
8. Profit.

When John McCain went on her show (after he secured the nomination), she asked him about what his views on California's Proposition 8 were, if I remember correctly. It was back when the gay marriage in California debate was REALLY heated.

Proposition 8 was the amendment that banned gay marriage in California.

As long as she doesn't ask Ron Paul about any gay issues, I don't see the harm.

McCain was/is an unprincipled clueless hack who had no idea how to answer the question.

And some gay people watch it too. He'll be reaching out to the GLBT community without even realizing it.

She'd like RP's stance on gay issues

I am really going to start sounding like a negative nancy, a debbie downer, or a party pooper pauline...but you cannot honestly think that she will like RP's stance on gay issues. DADT sure fine. No on the federal marriage amendment to ban gay marriage...sure sure sounds great. But wait no anti discrimination bill for gays!? No support for gay marriage on a federal level!?

No she will not. Take it from the token gay guy here...SHE WILL NOT. What's next...Rachel Maddow? Yah, that will go over like a fart in church.

If Ron Paul comes through without a scratch I'll be very surprised. But I think this is a waste of time.

Ellen is not loved by conservatives. She's a total lib, and gay to boot, and everyone knows most of the GOP are major homophobes. So how is this going to help Ron? Nobody that he needs to pull votes from is going to be watching this show.

And the downside is that he could be ridiculed for going on her show by other candidates.

Ron went on The View back in 2007. The View's women, with the exception of Hasselbeck, are 100000000000x more liberal than Ellen.

According to who? Just because Ellen is far more polite and doesn't sound like a harpie on steroids doesn't mean she can't paint a similar picture that Whoopie Goldberg can.

Ehhhh I disagree. My sisters and mom like her and they are sort of regular non-political conservative-ish ladies. The 30 and under female crowd is overwhelmingly positive towards her.

I'm enjoying all the feedback.

I don't believe though we have much to worry as far as losing support.

We really need to focus on building support among women. Ellen can help with that.

I'm in favor of getting him on ANY daytime or late night show, maybe other than Letterman. But, it's important to focus our power on one. It's hard getting folks to contact 10 different shows.

The good thing about these daytime shows is it will help support among women.
