Grassroots/chip-in ad buy for remaining ME counties, worth it?

Someone had said that it would be relatively inexpensive. Thoughts?

They make up about 100 votes. We are behind by 200. Not worth it.

I say it's worth it. Just because there were only a 100 something votes in 2008 doesn't mean that those numbers couldn't be far exceeded if Ron Paul's supporters came out en masse. We already saw in Maine that a lot of the precincts that Ron won in were reporting higher turnout numbers than they experienced in 2008.

If its only 100 may not be worth it.

Can we get some more input with regards to our potential? Are there any other counties left?

Apparently radio spots are cheap.

The city of Waterville and half of Waldo County has not been counted yet along with other small caucuses. We must force the GOP to count every single vote, and announce the true result!

I'd like to see one of the PACs propose something specific. I chipped in to the Nevada rump convention. And I don't even live in NV.

If we can get some kind of consensus on this, we'd have to produce the spots today and try to get them aired starting Monday or Tuesday.

As far as the donations and where they would go, maybe we could send the money to the advertisers directly? We could set up the account with them directly then have people give money to them until we gathered the necessary amount.

That way everyone can feel comfortable that the money is being used for its intended purpose.

I actually just logged in for the first time since 2008 election to suggest this.(visit daily but never post) Bangor is relatively close to washington county. Bangor Daily News ad buy. I'd say it's worth trying something. I would chip in.

we want to dominate it. Ask those in Maine if that is the best place to put money. It may be, but we would be reminding othervoters too. Our guys might rather go through phone lists if they have enough in that area. I do want us to dominate that caucus, at this point.

OK, Banger Daily News sounds good if we can get the ad in in time.

Would like to point out that Ron Paul has gotten 1,996 votes so far in Maine, yet there are 3,600 people who "like" him on Facebook in Maine. So I think there is great potential for us if we can motivate everyone to turnout.

Our goal would be to get more people there than usual.

And not JUST there, but to the other 'late' caucuses. My understanding is that 17% of the vote is outstanding. And if our people bolster that as independents, it becomes an even bigger share. Remember that Ron brings in NEW people.

I think the marketing money would be better spent holding meetings near colleges just before the caucus (day before or just hours before) ad organize folks to go and vote. Offer free food and such at the meeting.

Perhaps some newspaper ads, especially college based papers could work well. "Robbery In Progress - Stop Mitt Romney" type theme.

We can't win the remaining votes solely based on usual turnout, we need to bring new unregistered first time voters.

What ad would we air? Would we make a quick new ad or just air one that is already created?

It would have to be new, directed at this rip off specifically, like:

Your voice is about to be squelched by the GOP establishment. Don't let them rob you of your vote! Come out and caucus for Ron Paul on Saturday, Feb 18th 2010. Call blah blah blah or visit blah blah blah .com for more info.

I know, I know, I'm not a good ad copy writer, but it has to have an urgent warning sound to it with ominous music in the background.

A radio station can cut spots and cart them for airplay quickly. What takes more time is signing the forms with the right parties... there are FEC disclosures to meet, etc.

If someone gets on the ball tomorrow they can round up quotes.

There may not really be time to gather much $ on a chip-in drive itself. But a PAC with funding on hand could leap into the fray and get ads running by the middle of the week.

We at least need a well written piece or a decent youtube vid to link to from facebook or something, I'ma emailing revpac to see if they've got any plans and see if they have any thoughts on the matter.

Anybody know of some good links to give people in that geographic?
