Governor Perry indicted on felony criminal charges for abuse of power

I hate to defend Perry, but this is bullshit.

A special prosecutor spent months calling witnesses and presenting evidence that Perry broke the law when he promised publicly to nix $7.5 million over two years for the public integrity unit run by the office of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg. Lehmberg, a Democrat, was convicted of drunken driving, but refused Perry's calls to resign.

Video Shows Belligerently Drunk District Attorney Demanding That Cops Call Local Sheriff, to Get Her Out of Jail
This, aside from being totally outrageous behavior, is part of Governor Perry's indictment story.

Wow she's head of state's "Public Integrity Unit" and repeatedly told the officers to "call Greg" to pull rank and get her out of her DWI. That's fighting corruption alright. That office is a joke.

Yeah, that's what's so frustrating about this.
I love that a dim goon like Rick Perry is being inidcted for something.
But I'm all in favor of him having done the particular thing for which he's being indicted.

Perry, Lehmberg and all those assholes oughta be dumped into an oubliette ...

Why didn't Lehmberg simply flash her government ID and get sent on her way, or have a cab called for her?

Lol...

Before You Pass Judgment On Rick Perry…

You ought to see this video first. This is the dash cam footage from the patrol car that pulled over Travis County D.A., Rosemary Lehmberg for DWI.

Not sure this is relevant. If Perry cannot directly fire her, I doubt that he can ethically or legally affect legislation as a form of reprisal.

Yeeeah, I wouldn't hold my breath....

I'm not.

The point is, since you missed it, that she is now being subjected to the same treatment that she doles out daily and can't stand the heat.

She has no leg to stand on anymore. (not that she ever did)

I am so happy to help make this raging hypocrite famous.

DUI D.A. Rosemary Lehmberg bought 23 gallons of vodka in 15 months, at one store

Rosemary Lehmberg says she doesn’t have a drinking problem. Her credit card receipts tell a different story.

When going through filings he found receipts from seven different Twin Liquors stores. They show Lehmberg’s credit card was used to buy more than $3,000 in vodka. The 72 bottles purchased Total more than 23 gallons.

“If somebody is buying 23 gallons of vodka within 15 months’ time, is caught with it, three times the legal limit all those things, being that coherent, all suggest that Ms. Lehmberg has probably had some sort of problem for a long time,” O’Brien charged.

No wonder she couldn’t walk a straight line. How was she sober enough to sign the indictment?

Whether she can "stand the heat" or not or whether she is despised as a hypocrite is likely irrelevant to the case. The relevant point, as I see it, is whether Rick Perry, in lieu of Texas law empowering him to terminate or discipline this particular state employee, is allowed to veto legislation that would fund her job. Furthermore, why should the lady be terminated for a simple misdemeanor? If, on the other hand, Texas law provides for such retribution for committing such a crime, it is probably relegated to someone she reports to directly, rather than the Governor. But I haven't heard the facts about the Texas government organization chart yet.
