LENEXA, Kansas – 2012 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul will be joined by incumbent Gov. Sam Brownback at Congressman Paul’s Shawnee County Town Hall Meeting in Topeka. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 12:30 p.m. CST on Friday, March 9th at the Topeka Performing Arts Center.

“We appreciate that Governor Brownback has generously offered to attend one of Ron Paul’s town hall meetings in Kansas, and trust his appearance there will add to an already-exciting opportunity to engage Kansas voters the day prior to the state’s caucus,” said Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton.

Event details are as follows. Time is Central.

IRC brownback was a neocon in the mold of santorum last i checked. hardcore state-should-enforce-morality-type, maybe im thinking of someone else

Wow, this is the guy that ran for President in 2008. I had no idea he was the current Governor of Kansas!

His type of people are the ones we need to support our cause, so quit attacking them and sell them RP. It's a great thing he is going to be there.

WOW - I would never have expected Sam Brownback to agree to even come near Ron Paul. He was one of the people on the stage with Ron in '08, and he was NOT happy with what Ron had to say back in the day. BUT, I have to say, I am very happy to have him attend Ron's event!! I will monitor this development. We need to court people like Brownback and try to win them over if at all possible.

weird. this semi-confirms my suspicion that many of the former and current presidential candidates respect (and may even agree with) ron paul deep down.

Sam Brownback's facial expressions as Ron Paul talks about the drug war in 2008 are hilarious for some reason. "Oh, there he goes again".

No quarter from me for the likes of Brownstain. You can grovel all you wish, but you can be assured that at the end of the day, the Brownstain will bite you...........because that is the nature of a snake and a neocon. It is the same reason that the sky is blue, the cow says moo, and shit flows downhill. It is the nature of things.

Why is Paul in Kansas? It's too late for Kansas.

He has to skip ahead to some state where he can spend at LEAST a week there and at least half a million dollars. Without a WIN he is going to continue to dwindle. I don't believe a win is impossible but it sure is impossible if he doesn't try. And the effort necessary gets harder and harder the longer he doesn't try to win a state.

Paul COULD be on local TV, radio and print every single day he was in a state doing local events .... Why isn't he? Does it just tire him out too much?

Do they seriously think that having 30% of the delegates at Tampa will get us ANYTHING? Romney will have a choice: compromise with Gingrich and Santorum OR .... compromise with Paul .... Just who do you think he's going to compromise with???? Hmmm? What would it take to buy off Santorum or Gingrich? Money? Power? Romney's got plenty of that he's willing to throw around ... What does he have to do to win over Paul? He's got to DISAVOW money and power, not "bestow" it upon others.

I think he wants to win his supporters, and we'll see, beyond that.

^Before I watch those, do you only listen to obscure conspiracy theories and take them as fact?

I just googled it and here is npr: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=120746516

I never heard of it, I thought at first he meant THIS family:

LOL! When I went to get that image, guess what article it was on?

Jailed Ex-Congressman to Newt Gingrich: ‘I Have 80% of Inmates That Would Vote for You’
Here's yet another reason that a viable Newt Gingrich presidential candidacy is in America's best comedic interests: It brings out his fellow scumbag crooks that he's worked with over the years to pledge their loyalty for his Restoration.

In this case we've got California ex-Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, who's been serving in jail since he plead guilty to various flavors of fraud, taking millions of dollars in bribes, and tax evasion in 2005. He sent his old House leader a message of encouragement from prison last month, telling him that he and fellow inmates have got his back.

"First I do not want anything from you," he says in his prison message, as uncovered by Voice of San Diego, "but have been watching the debates. I have 80% of inmates that would vote for you. They might not be able to but their extended families will." Well, that should put him over the top.

I kid you not.... now if he had sent that to RON.... we'd all have heard of it.....

I still do not understand the "delegate strategy."

The only real bargaining chip I see has nothing to do with delegates per se. It has to do with the nominee possibly needing votes in the general election from Ron Paul's supporters. So, for example, if there is a Rand VP deal or something that Mittens thinks he needs to win the general, it might look better to the public if it comes out of the convention. Maybe. I don't know.

Kansas is a caucus state. We will likely not win the straw poll, but we will be able to get a good chunk of the delegates, unlike many of the winner take all primaries. Also, Kansas is kinda geographically central, so it's not that hard or expensive to get to. It should be an easy state to pick up some delegates, but it will not give us any beauty contest momentum.
