Got a new $100 bill today...not impressed

I got a new hundy today. It's also "2009" series, signed by Geithner.

Shit looks like Monopoly money!!! Not good print quality either. There's black ink bleeding through from the serial number on the front onto the back of the bill. The paper feels thinner than an older $100 too which would probably explain the bleed through. Overall, this new bill does not inspire confidence. It'll be hard to counterfeit for sure but it's not quality notes.

Paper feels different than old bill paper. I think there's less cotton in the paper now.

I don't see how that is possible. The paper is made from cotton fibres. Until about a decade ago a lot of it was made from recycled jeans, but since jeans are not 100% cotton anymore (a lot have spandex and other crap) it's made from scratch.

I showed it to an older friend that has managed a bar for the last 20 years. He knows cash. His first words after I handed him the bill? "This looks like some fuckin funny money!" The bill did pass the bill pen test so it's genuine.

I thought the timing of the news item about the dog that ate the hundred dollar bills (but received a CHECK from the Treasury) seemed weird, considering the new bill release date and my opinion that the new bills won't last. Think about it.

Not that I saw. There's a blank white space on the right side of the front with a watermark of Franklin with triple chins.
