Huckabee Broke

Less than a month after a huge upset victory, and promises that fundraising would be ramped up, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is asking his senior staff to keep working for him without pay, while lower level campaign staff are seeing their salaries cut dramatically or eliminated altogether.

"The goal is to get a leaner, meaner campaign structure moving into Super Tuesday," says a senior campaign adviser.

But many of those being asked to take the cut are refusing, and walking away, leaving the campaign with holes to fill.

"The money simply hasn't come in at the rate that we expected," says the aide. "Florida is a $7 million commitment that we can't meet, and if we did, that leaves us exposed for Super Tuesday, where we have a lot of states and a lot media buys. We had to make tough decisions."

given the amount of money Ron pays his staff - perhaps Dr. Paul's staff can do the exact same EVEN though we are not hurting as much as others... this sends a clear message.. they are willing to work for free EVEN THOUGH they have money - They'd rather have their money go to promotion and the message..

hmmmmm

Well we better keep our man Paul funded, MLK was a step in the right direction.

Of course I don't think anyone will be walking away from this campaign even without pay, oh wait we arn't getting paid now.

The media would not spin it that way, not with Ron.

Bad idea. :)

I just don't understand how we can't have people working for free. I'm sure there are a ton of good die hards that would be willing to.

huckster, goohliani, and thompson are gone - if not now then after 1/29.

Mitt, Ron Paul, and mccainainainainainan

I think Ron Paul should make an announcement after Rudy and Huck can't pay their staff anymore, that he is giving his staff a modest raise....would be too funny.

hahahahahah I was wondering how much he was spending running all of those TV ads down here in SC.

Hucks gotta be done if you think about it. Florida he's not going to do well. Then there's super tuesday, but for the next 2 weeks, he's broke.

So, for all you people SCREAMING that all of the candidates had tons of money, you're BUSTED!

The fact is..if Ron is ever put in the position to not pay his staff..any of us would be willing to step up and do it for free..and the fact is we would do a better job of it.

lol. Add that to the campaign suggestion box. Seriously, add it. They might do that :D

terrrible idea. Ron decides to give his staff a raise while we are all struggling financially? Not quite. That would be a HUGE foobar!

A much clearer message would be what I suggest. That this movement/revolution inspires even those in the upper echelon to work for free. They'd rather have the donors money mean something more than paying salaries.... they'd rather promote the message.

No, a press release would handle the "media spin".

Hey guys, don't get over confident. We don't have endless $$ ourselves! In fact, if we want to keep holding on until the end, much more will be needed.

Grassroots is free and there are plently of us. When people volunteer to work for free, that's great. But some professional staff are needed and I find the thought of asking anyone to work for free repulsive.

RP should use this to display the complete lack of control and over-spending by other candidates. "You see, they can even manage a campaign, how would they manage the U.S.?"
LMAO

I can see it now:

"Ron Paul supporters stop giving money to Ron Paul, boosting Ron Paul's campaign to win."

You obviously haven't read the books on economics Dr. Paul has on his reading list. We pay the staff because they are worth it.

These guys just pulled out s second place in Nevada depite a smear campaign and a media brown out. Trust team Paul. They know what they are doing.
