Global Warming/Climate Change

Our air is much cleaner now than it was in the 60's and 70's, and yet respitory diseases are spiraling upward.

Three main causes to respiratory diseases increasing.
1) Smoking
2) Indoor pollution
3) Increase number of respiratory personnel (respiratory therapists and specialists) aka awareness

As soon as the price of energy goes up enough, people will start investing in solar energy. The free market will take care of it, but not until it makes economic sense.

The market can't adjust fast enough. Increasing demand with falling availability of resources. We just won't be able to afford to ship our food 1,000 miles from the farm to our dinner table. DECENTRALIZE ECONOMY, DECENTRALIZE GOVERNMENT, LOWER CONSUMPTION... or... we could just wait for the white house and halliburton to figure out something for us! The FEMA camps they're building in texas look awfully welcoming.

The "solution" I could get behind is a law that requires all federal government departments to be carbon neutral. Then eliminate all departments that fail. :D

Amen, Broadlighter. One of the most difficult hurdles I had to overcome in my transition to libertarian thinking was the environmental factor. I have always been concerned over the environment.

Unfortunately, I discovered, the agenda has been highjacked just like every other issue causing us problems in the nation and world.

The cause of global warming is not due to man, but rather due to increased solar activity. You can and should not take my word, but simply google the relevant terms and you will be surprised to learn that there is not, by a longshot, consensus on this matter. A good start would be here:

And as for Al Gore, I wonder how many are aware of his holdings in Occidental Petroleum. All the while railing against the internal combustion engine...why did we not hear this in is the msm? And still do not? And why is he a spokesman and not being called out on this and other policies which have made it so difficult for resource providers in this country? The best starting point for sorting his dirty deeds is the book: Undue Influence by former Sierra Club honcho, Ron Arnold. But don't read any of this unless you are truly prepared to be shocked and mortified as to how the once peaceful grassroots environmental movement came to be derailed and coopted by the very same forces which are creating all the problems: the big and I do mean big industrialists.

I've heard Al Gore get called out numerous times by conservatives for his apparent inconsistencies between what he preaches and what he personally practices. He would garner for more respect for his ideas if he simply bicycled his way to his guest appearances.

I only see the Global Warming movement as a means to shift political and economic power from one set of tyrants to another. It wouldn't surprise me if some British Bankers were sitting around in their gentlemen's club at tea time wagering over who will get the nod on climate change policy.

Right, he hasn't been called out on the O.P. situation, however, and it seems such a critical and telling bit of info; don't you think?

My studies lead me to think you may not be that far from the truth, with that banker statement. The same power brokers keep popping up in these treaties like Kyoto. The thing that amazes me the most in all of this is the willingness of masses of people to be manipulated by people and agendas they know nothing about. Like: 'Who are these people and where does their money come from?"

And as a matter of fact most scientists disagree with the causes of global warming. Why are these voices not being heard?

Oh yes, and another thing about Mr Gore which irritates me to no end is his assertion of having 'invented' the internet. Even if that were so, I never hear mention of the incredible increase in energy demand this new and wonderful technology has created. The hypocrisy in this just boggles the mind.

Having worked in tech companies and having friends who were involved in starting up the Internet, I can say it was a tremendous effort on the part of countless individuals who made the Internet happen. Al Gore contributed to enabling the Internet to become available to the average person. He was a sponsor, if not the principal sponsor, of the Internet Act. George H.W. Bush signed it into law without much fanfare, but IMO he deserves some credit, too.

Gore would have done better for himself by singing the praises of the engineers and technicians who worked to get the Internet online. To claim the title of "Father of the Internet" is a cold slap on the face to those people. They did the real work IMO and rightfully deserve to be called 'Fathers of the Internet.'

The best thing we can do to "fight global warming" is to stop giving it creedence. It's a bunch of socialist, globalist bullcrap designed to scare people into believing limiting their freedom will "save the planet".

Eliminate the silliness surrounding "pollution controls", jobs increase because government gets out of business' business.

If someone is truly polluting, treat it as a property crime issue.
