From another thread, but bears repeating. Spinsters like Beck will tell people what they want to her, but don't go thinking the corporate media are our allies:
Your post about Beck was just... awful. I mean.. what a bunch of elitist garbage. It's libertarians like you who seriously turn people off of the liberty movement. Can people not change? I can understand not trusting Beck but to not even give him (or Hannity or anyone else) the time of day simply because they have a microphone and weren't all in on libertarianism from day 1 is just ridiculous.
I started listening to Beck on a whim shortly after the 2010 mid terms. Prior to that I was not politically aligned at all. In 2008 I actually voted for Barack Obama and I freely admit I was a "low information" voter as Rush puts it. I started listening to him because I was honestly sick and tired of everywhere I turned (namely the Daily Show and liberal forums, etc) blaming everything on Bush. I didn't like Bush.. infact, he was a big reason why I decided to vote Democrat in 2008.. but the whining was INCESSANT. So I turned him on almost as a joke.. thinking I'd be just as turned off him and conservative viewpoints as I was by Democrats. I forget what he was talking about but right away he was slamming establishment republicans. I was hooked immediately because here was a voice who actually seemed to understand the problem.
Now.. maybe you're right and that he's capitalizing on a growing trend in the Country but if so, he's been beating the same drum for at least 4 years now since I've listened to him.
And yes, he's pro-Israel.. but he's not pto-intervention in Israel. He repeatedly expresses that they can take care of themselves but that that isn't going to stop HIM from supporting them himself.. That's a pretty big difference that I don't ever see stated here (probably because most of his doubters probably haven't ever listened to him).
Hell, just 3 days ago Beck reiterated that he's DONE with American intervention.. that he wants all the troops to be brought back now.. that he doesn't even understand why they are there. He also admitted that he didn't always think that way.. is he allowed to move towards true libertarianism? Because I sure as hell didn't always have the same opinions on the Country, Constitution and freedom that I do now.. I couldn't fucking care less 5 years ago.
I realize I am part of the reason the Country is in the mess it's in now... but at least I'm (along with I think millions of others) are seeing the errors of my ways.. I don't see why guys like Beck or Hannity can't be afforded the same leeway now that they are coming around.
