Glenn Beck calls on Justin Amash to run… in 2024

By JD Rucker
June 2, 2019

Former NeverTrumper turned MAGA-hat minstrel Glenn Beck made a brave yet confusing statement today on Twitter. On one hand, he praised Representative Justin Amash for a Tweet affirming his commitment to defend the Constitution while not catering to any party (GOP) or person (President Trump). On the other hand, he called on him to run for President… in 2024.

Many Republicans have attacked Amash for being the lone Republican in Congress calling for impeachment of the President. He has become anathema to the MAGA crowd while becoming an instant hero to both NeverTrump Republicans and anti-GOP Libertarians. And both groups have been calling on him to run for President in 2020, either as a Republican primary candidate or as a straight Libertarian.

Beck has been the punching bag for both sides of the Trump coin since the 2016 primaries. First, he was a heralded supporter of Senator Ted Cruz before Cruz dropped out and eventually endorsed Trump, drawing the ire of the MAGA crowd. But then his recent shift to supporting the President was seen as a betrayal by the NeverTrumpers. His recent actions may be seen as a way of testing the waters to see if the NeverTrumpers will let him back in the club, as he was never fully embraced by the MAGA crowd.

Here’s his Tweet:

GOP should have alternative leadership prepared for 2020.

Unfortunately multiple things working against MAGA's re-election. On top of existing baggage, risk of cut-off of funding for MAGA America-First movement has increased significantly. Without funding, MAGA movement will get wiped out in 2020.

I probably couldn't support Justin Amash, he doesn't really tell a compelling enough story on what he would do with the country.

Could you support a neocon Adelson funded "conservative" Dem-lite though with compelling crowd-pleasing on stage presence and the best truth-telling skills?

It depends, I might get some conservative concessions by helping them retain their power, possibly enough to save the republic. Amash would never be able to articulate a vision of America that is more fanciful than the dream we are in now.

I think Amash is more of a straight shooter than Trump. Half of the time, one cannot tell if Trump is BS us or playing games with the deep state. Also, Amash doesn't have business dealing with Soros. This is a big plus for Amash over Trump

It is interesting how far Glenn Beck fell from grace monetarily for not supporting Trump. You can say what you will for Beck and whether you believe not supporting Trump was principle or not, but it cost him hugely for not supporting orange man.
