the role. but almost all snipers will take a bolt action over a semi auto. the reason is ballistic physics. a stationary chamber is a stable platform from which to launch a projectile with consistent accuracy. a break action offers the most stable chamber of all breach loaded cartridge firearms. the boltaction is almost as stable, but has a much better reload time. semiautos have the least stable chamber. thus the least consistent they can put out a lot of lead.

A bolt action rifle offers nothing? A high powered bolt action rifle is more accurate, which is the top end goal of a high powered rifle.
