What's the real deal with this guy?

I hear he is the devil incarnate from right wingers, I hear nothing from the left wingers.

It's an old tactic to pick rich philanthropists on the other side of the aisle to pump up as boogeyman. Soros is a fairly decent liberal as far as I'm concerned- his work is problematic in areas where we disagree (economic policy, some social policies), and very helpful in other areas (civil liberties, foreign policy, drugs). He thinks of himself as a defender of what he calls "the open society", which is more-or-less classical liberalism with some social-democratic icing.

The recent attacks on the Koch brothers is a conscious mimicry of the right's attacks on Soros, and it's just as vapid and substance-less. Radley Balko likes to point out that on his criminal justice/civil liberties beat, he's received funding from both Soros and the Kochs, and never been unduly or improperly influenced by either.

There's certainly nothing problematic per se about a rich person using their money to express their political opinions. Just like everyone else, Soros is subject to criticism and resistance when he's wrong, but just as much he should receive credit on those issues where he sides with liberty.

On the right you have the Koch brothers, Kissinger, and rothchilds. Wonder why Beck will not talk about them. Lets not forget Rockofeller.

Distraction

It is a distraction. Just like the bash Obama movement. Focus discontent on a few selected target individuals and AWAY from the entrenched institutions that really pull the strings. The bottom line is that Obama and his entire administration, along with Nancy Pelosi and George Soros, could vaporize tomorrow and NOTHING would change.

It is just part of the larger manipulation. The folks who want to keep the Republican-leaning public from seeing behind the curtain find targets for blame and hatred. The poor people that bough houses they couldn't afford caused the banks to collapse. The immigrants from south of the border are causing the social welfare system to go bankrupt. The muslims from around the world hate us for our freedom and must be eliminated. George Soros is destroying world morality. Etc. It is a diversion.

The Democrats have the identical tactic used on them but with different targets - the evil business man, gun owners, Christians, etc. I'm not as familiar with them because I don't get their email circulated to me by my Father everyday.
