I have posted this to several threads and no one has ever responded. I say that if Gay marriage is A-OK then incest laws need to be addressed. Father son, Brother/brother, Mother/daughter, Sister/sister! Obviously all parties would have to be consenting adults. What is your opinion????? Understand that I am a heterosexual married male with 4 kids that has no interest in sleeping with my son.

If laws follow the morality of the people, rather than just protect the rights of EACH individual, then yea, who knows in 15 years the new lgbt wonderfad might be sleeping with your parents/ bro n sis's.

I can see it now, brothers and sisters saying, "we luv each other, we wanna be together. We can adopt, be good parents"..

Are we talking about full-grown adults consenting to an incestuous relationship, or a parent coercing their offspring from a position of power? Or would that not matter? What about inbreeding? Do contraceptives essentially make that argument moot? Those are the questions you should ask and figure out before making a conclusion.

I don't see anything wrong with consenting adults doing what they want to do. I also think we're at a point where contraceptives would greatly reduce the prevalence of inbreeding.

How old are the children? Do they live separately?

The crux of the situation here is that children growing up learn to trust and rely on their parents, and the parents are in a position of great authority. This makes it so that a parent can then coerce the offspring into a sexual relationship through a form of manipulation.

In regards to the OP, morally I do not agree with that, but I have no business pushing my morals onto anyone except when my wife and I are raising our children.

If they are two consenting parties, then whatever floats your boat.

Now if anyone brings up the genetic risk side of the argument that is out there (i.e. any sort of autosomal recessive disorder, etc.), my response to that then is should the government also dictate whether two unrelated consenting adults can have children if they both carry the same recessive gene mutations (cystic fibrosis, Tay Sachs disease, etc.)? But how will the government get an individual's DNA? ... there are databases out there where people willingly submit their DNA sample, like 23andMe.com, ever since the human genome was mapped. Those sites are for research so to identify specific genes for disease, etc. but we all know about Prism and so just wait until Obama Care really takes off and then procedural costs get linked to what your DNA profile says or maybe in the near future, when you go and apply for a State Marriage licence.

I mean, if people are going to be safe and they aren't bothering me or doing anything to harm me or others, they're free to do as they wish. Doesn't mean I personally like the idea, but who am I to tell consenting adults they can't have sex with each other? If you believe in a God, let God judge them for their personal issues.

I don't see a problem with two grown, consenting adults deciding that they would enjoy each other sexually even if they're family members. I also don't think incest is prevalent enough for it to become a huge issue simply based on the idea that the mother/father/son/daughter dynamic and growing up around them from an early age kills any sense of attraction that would otherwise potentially develop. I think siblings related by blood whom don't grow up together in the same household have an infinitely higher chance of developing sexual attraction in the future upon meeting, for example.
