Well, just as some burned books who were heresy... :P

Now really though, I'm sick and tired of this affirmative action, political correctness bullshit. Just get over it already. At least I could care the less if I offend people and I plan to stay this way. It will be fun when I get to UNC though. lol

We will end up with the same garbage here in he US for the same reasons. If we look back at the real roots of the problem it is because years ago when gays would get beat up the law and everyone else looked the other way.

"Hey its ok, its just a couple of homos, no big deal."

We are not just talking about random citizens abusing gays. We are also talking about police officers abusing gays. Stonewall was the last straw. A group of gays in NYC got together and fought back in the streets, then in the media and finally with politics.

Unfortunately this kind of action so often causes a pendulum swing where things get worse in the opposite direction before it is allowed to settle at parity where everyone is equal.

I wouldn't quite call this blowback as much as poltical corectness out of control and a general lack of concern for liberty and free speech.

I could not disagree with you more.

To ignore the root cause will only guarantee we follow in Canada's footprints. The majority of people in the LGBT community want nothing more than to live their life in peace. Unfortunately this does not happen. When two guys go walking down the sidewalk holding hands late at night they are often subjected to violence for no reason other than they might be gay. Gay teens are often kicked out of their house and disowned by their mother and/or father because they are gay. These things cause blow back and it gives people a reason to join together and fight. They do not fight for acceptance, they fight to be left alone to live their life their way.

If people can not see this we will certainly follow Canada down this path.

The scenario you describe has nothing to do with a lack of equal protection under the law. Currently GLBTs enjoy equal protection of the law, what they are pushing for is special protections and privileges.

That has NOTHING to do with just being left alone to live their lives free from the government. It has everything to do with them using government to bash everyone into accepting their choices as normal and accepted and even encouraged.

In the real world, societies punish people who make choices outside what is considered socially acceptable. Fat people deal with it, ugly people deal with it, people with tattoos on their faces deal with it. Gays need to suck it up and come to the conclusion that EQUAL protection under the law as INDIVIDUALS, not as their gay identities, is enough.

The actual *root* cause of those anti-free speech laws in Canada are not gays. I won't mention any more details, but some of you know what I'm talking about.

We need more equal opportunity hatists..

Or equal opportunity discrimination, whichever.

Try reading his first post about groups of gay people being beaten up by randoms and having those acts supported by the police.

Did some people involved with gay rights go to far? Yes. But their reaction is justified.

Everything Tony has said is correct.

Honestly that doesn't suprise me coming from you.

Any gay who was beaten with police involvement had a blatant civil rights claim under existing law. It in no way justifies their current crusade.

Fuck, how hard is it to understand that when you engage in an activity that is unpopular, you face an uphill battle, and life just isnt going to be easy? Suck it up! Pursue your claims as an individual, and accept that people dont like you....

Just like people shouldnt be bashing gays and using the police to help them, gays shouldnt be using the force of government to force their shit down people's throats either.

Wow, this is political correctness gone wild. I don't want gay Americans to take away our most fundamental liberties with fake rights such as "not to be offended".

Thesis, antithesis, synthesis. The infiltrators into the gay movement take such an extreme view that the synthesis leads to another reason to expand government power. Most gays don't want to throw people in jail for speaking out against homosexuality just like most people that don't like homosexuality don't want to see them abused. Its an artificial problem created with the intent to expand government power and strip us of our rights.
