From The Ground in Maine: Romney's Plan Backfired

I hope this is true, I hope its been resonating with the people that we've been there from day one.

While Mitt paid $15 million to buy Florida, we were in Maine.

Well if the non-Ron Paul people don't like what Mitt is doing, then I assume that's good for Santorum and not us. Am I missing something here?

the non Ron Paul people is everyone that is not a Ron Paul person. That includes Mitt Romney supporters and undecided GOP regular types. If they don't like what he's doing, that means they're less likely to vote for him we can assume. Which means that Romney's number goes down, and ours stays the same or goes up. That's good for us.

Well in the Lewiston area it is abuzz with Ron Paul (positive) because he picked them to speak to. Romney will be speaking in Portland (a college town USM has campuses there). We need those college kids to go and vote and we could pull an upset there too.

Paul already won a county and a city Romney won last time. I think Santorum will get a bump, but he is at the very bottom looking up, the bump might not be big enough.

Wait, Portland, the big ass city that everyone is panicking about had a total of 165 votes in 2008? Surely this is not the same area other threads are panicking about Romney "owning"?

I belive portland is a super caucus with more than one town meeting and voting there.

The county it's in (most of which also votes today) had quite a lot more in total. But yeah, the vote totals look tiny compared to something like the FL primary.

Yeah, same one. But the total numbers of votes in Maine is small. It really is a long process. Takes 3-4 hours. 2 hours of speeches, and then you break up into groups, and that's 1-2 hours. So, that keeps the numbers down I'd guess.

No. Portland is just Portland. No super caucus.

Ron Paul is at the caucus in Lewiston. That's a supercaucus for all of Androscoggin County. The Sanford caucus, where both Paul and Romney are starting today, is also a supercaucus.

A place like that....just one person working hard alone to carpool folks into voting centers could make a huge difference seems to me. I sure hope to hear good news there later.....sure do need this one.

Will the results of the Maine caucus be announced tonight? I thought I read somewhere that there were a few that went into next week.

i doubt they got set up at the Caucus he is speaking at.

on second thought, they may have some coverage of it, since it looks like they had some coverage of Ron Paul meeting caucus goers in Sanford.

If they show Ron Paul at Lewiston / Androscoggin - there were 269 votes in Androscoggin County last time. If they say something like there are 1000 people there, that's a good sign. 169 votes in Portland last time. That's where Romney will be after Sanford.

Ron Paul Chants after Romney spoke.WOW THE WHOLE BACK OF THE GYM IS RON PAUL BANNERS

I think Mitt will expose Santorum's record before Michigan. Santorum was never really vetted as the lobbyist go-to guy in the Bush administration because his day in the sun was so brief after Iowa (He was no where in New Hampshire, as in Maine). I think Mitt or his pac will rectify that, and I hope to see RON do well in Michigan.

I hope so & I hope his "surge" falls, not only when he's exposed but also as more & more people google his name :D

Republicans are obviously making a huge mistake if Santorum ends up the nominee. Guarantees Obama a second term. Not necessarily the worst case scenario for the cause of Liberty. After another four years of Obama's big government, liberal philosophies with a side dish of destruction of civil liberties and warmongering, it could be a delicious recipe for a Rand Paul run in 2016.

Can we focus on THIS YEAR please, for a moment, we're doing very well with delegates, if you haven't seen the news yet!

Ron Paul Chants after Romney spoke.

Fantastic, isn't it :D
