From The Ground in Maine: Romney's Plan Backfired

Just to put some context, by dominated you mean got 12 more votes than Ron Paul.

4 years ago in Lewiston:
Romney: 30 (44%)
Paul: 18 (26%)
McCain: 16
Huckabee: 4

Any estimate on the number of people in Lewiston, ItsTime?

Its still going to come down to the big counties(York and Cumberstone) ROmney picked up 1100 votes here in 08. Until I start hearing results from there Im gonna hold off on any excitement...

Yeah Lewiston is a super caucus, more than one town, just like Sanford is for all of York. Reports there are a huge turn out for Ron too.

Waiting to hear back for an est of total people at the Lewiston caucus.

From DailyPaul (4 minutes ago):

81 total Votes: Motion to witness all counts approved

Mittens 29 36%
Paul 28 35%
Santorum 19 23%
Newt 5 6%
Write in 1 1%

My first caucus ever and I am pushing 40 years old. There was alot of confusing about the causus process by the group that led the process on what to motion, ect. I think a lot of Romney & Paul Supporters thought that this was a primary that you just could show up any where between 8:00 and 11:00am and walk up and vote. In reality anyone that got in after 9:00am could not vote becuase the caucus was processes was underway with its parties speakers. Gov. John Sununu from NH spoke on behalf of Mittens. A young lad from named Mike Wallace of South Portland who has worked on Ron & Rand Paul's campains while prior serving in the Airforce spoke for Ron Paul.

After the vote there were 41 motioned delegated that payed a 25$ fee to represent this area of the Maine district to participate in May 5-6th Maine convention. I was one of them. The delagate chair person motioned in to be elected was our very own Mike Wallace. While I didn't take an exact delegate count, I can easily say that over half of the delagates are Ron Paul supporters even though Mittens won the popular vote by merely 1 vote.

Side note:

About 12 older folks over 60 that showed up late to vote for Romney were turned down. One 18 year old Ron Paul supporter left becuase he was told he could not be a delegate, so he left prior to voting.

This thing is a do race between Ron Paul and Mittens for sure.

All of Andro Co. is meeting at this caucus. Lewiston is part of Andro Co. - 267 votes in Andro Co in 2008

Anyone know whats going on with the 5 new precincts they set up on 1 day's notice?

Also from Daily Paul:

Talked with Ron Paul Supporter from Scaborough who had thier caucus yesterday. The reproted number in that town was:

1st Mittens 45 votes
2nd Ron Paul 25 votes
3rd Newt 24 votes

Motion was declined to inform who was elected delagates for that area.

Seems like a smaller turn out in S. Portland than in 08? Is that trending elsewhere?
