I know where the idea came from twit, Vijay announced it in these forums and it was struck down by the majority. You can continue to push the idea and continue to call other supporters moles for questioning your lack of knowledge in regards to this issue.

MLK Day is not the property of MLK family. It is the property of the people. It is a national holiday. We have every right to observe it.. to "use" it just like we can "use" the fourth of July.

I supported this event because MLK spoke of all people coming together no matter what race they are. This is not the racial mindset foisted upon us today this attitude of MLK is the real solution and I back it.

MLK socialist? I don't know. Maybe he was but this event can promote those ideals which America needs promoted at this time .. freedom and equality based not on group rights which divide but on individual rights which unite us all if we will but claim our Republic.

MLK spoke of all the races as they are with no apology. He spoke of union and not division. He spoke of freedom and he spoke of God and I see no good reason to speak badly of this effort.

Like the idea, like the spirit... but it's going to be a tough sell that the "stormfront, don-black, rodney king, d.c's a crime-invested race pit" folks suddenly support not only the message of liberty but its most famous minority representative. I think it will invite many many more criticisms of the campaign and its supporters as well as rehashings of ALL of the racial issues (civil war included)...

Best case, it gets a lot of support and sounds nice.
Worst case, it makes us look like aggrandizing, appropriating, fools with a little blindness to their own racism.

Good idea for a fundraiser--but I fail to see whether it's important that he endorses it or not. No offense meant to him or anyone else, but really?
