Foreign Policy Since World War II: Good or Bad?

Bad.

All those who died in Vietnam and Korea died because of a popular myth at the time , the domino theory. The domino theory propelled foreign policy.

And a few libertarian economists knew that communist countries would self-destruct.

Given the loss of life, Korea and Vietnam define Foreign Policy after WW II.

Those wars were huge foreign policy blunders.

War Is A Racket

A speech delivered in 1933, by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC.

Major General Smedley Butler, USMC.
He joined the Marine Corps when the Spanish American War broke out, earned the Brevette Medal during the Boxer Rebellion in China, saw action in Central America, and in France during World War I was promoted to Major General. Smedley Butler served his country for 34 years, yet he spoke against American armed intervention into the affairs of sovereign nations.

Gotta love Smedley.

He might have saved the Republic.

Smedley won two medals of honor!

That just blows my mind, since many medals of honor are awarded posthumously. In fact, there have only been 19 individuals in U.S. history to receive two medals of honor.

What opportunity costs can we consider?

Well, for starters consider what all those dead soldiers might have accomplished in their lives if they had not been sacrificed for one glorious crusade or another. Then you should consider what our nation might have done with our productive energies and enterprise if we hadn't been spending so much of our time building big world vaporizing weapon systems. And playing spy games. And starting coups. It boggles the mind to imagine what we could have accomplished if half of the money spent on ICBMs had instead been invested in something that we could actually use.

"The thought of how far the human race [might] have advanced without government simply staggers the imagination." -Attributed to Doug Casey, 1979

In all due respect, DYODR! ( Do Your Own Damned Research )

Thanks! :)
I have studied this issue a fair deal. I have never seen any hard evidence that he was an avowed Communist. I mean, Henry Wallace was really leftist, but you're saying that Roosevelt was conclusively a communist.

If it is a fact, prove it. Claims like that should not by idly made.

You're the one aggressively making the claim that it is fact, and the burden of proof lies solely on you.

Just because I do not support your belief that he was a communist doesn't mean that I am ignorant. If you have such proof, give it to me. I am not going to search for it, as I have already studied him extensively, and never found any such facts.

And your source isn' exactly the most trustworthy.

U.S. Population (1935)...120,000,000
46,000,000 Eligible for Old Age Pension
30,000,000 Children prohibited from working
30,000,000 Government employees
13,999,998 Unemployed
---------------------
119,999,998

Left to produce U.S. wealth = 2
Just you and me - and I'm all worn out!

Not biased at all... He plays loosely with the facts.

If so, Evelyn Wood would be very proud of you. ;)

Isn't and doesn't everyone that disagrees with your "brainwash" programming? :) "Official" history is written by the winners!

You expect me to read a paper with a 12,000 word count, from a guy with little credibility? I don't have the time, I've wasted enough here already. You say it is a clear and obvious fact.

And you do realize how absurdly wrong those figures I posted (and he said) were, right?

Does doing "duck and cover" drills at Indian Trail Grade School, under my desk in the 6th grade count as brainwashing?

Or not?
