FOR LIBERTY Docum3ntary Is Finished!!! Whoooo!!!

(said something I clipped out of here because he annoyed me)

Congratulations on your technical expertise.

That's pretty freaking crappy, since the filmmaker already said several times that he was going to release a legitimate free version as soon as the people having local premieres were all done.

Will it be uploaded to youtube and google video as well? Because I don't think that most people use torrents.

That totally sucks. Who cares about awards, bring "For Liberty" to the people!
Yes, that is the point. IMO, there is value in going for the film festivals, awards, etc because that can really help bring it to the people. It's a slightly longer fuse but can have a much bigger bang. :) My $0.02.

Google video is shut down for new uploads, so no. They will only do YouTube if they get a directors account and can upload it all in one piece.

After looking into the film festivals (a very important part of spreading the message and getting awards/credibility for the film), they frown heavily on films on the internet. In other words, for the sake of getting into festivals we can't upload it just yet, and probably not until next spring.

Ok, well I guess it is a bit of a trade off then. Go the film festivals, well obviously your choice.

I'm just eager to get viral marketing going for it on the net. Whenever that day comes... lol, make sure you add a digg link, and every other viral marketing thing to the video desc. :p

:o

Any international film festivals as possibilities? I've looked locally but they are already been..

The importance of getting into big festivals greatly out weighs people wanting to watch it for free. The press and attention it would to the topic bring is priceless.

There is no way to stop it. As crappy as it is I think every one expected it

Let me make myself as clear as I possibly. If you created it, that's crappy thing to do.

If you didn't put it up, braying about its existence is a crappy thing to do.

Thanks for the reply Bryan. I guess there might be merit in going for the festivals if there is a good chance that it will do well, and from what I hear it should (still waiting for my copy).

I just think that since Alex Jones can get millions of views by posting his slightly crazy documentaries for free online we should be able to get even more people viewing "For Liberty" if it was easily available for online streaming.

Btw, can it really be true that noone on this forum has a directors account? What about aravoth?!

Well, I guess you might be right, in any case it is your decision for sure.

For the same reason I'm hoping people will Digg and comment on the HuffPost review on their site I did of the movie--we need to bring this to a broader audience.

This is very true. Do not put your film online if you want to go the festival route and possibly get actual theatrical distribution. I have some limited but direct experience in this arena in the US.

I think the festival/distribution route has a high probability of success for this film, sight unseen. Go for it! In the mean time, sell the hardcopy DVDs.

I agree!! I'm setting one up in the OC, so it would be nice if it wasn't spoiled. These things cost quite a bit of money to put on. If any of you want to find out, do one yourself. If any money is made on it at the local level, its all going right back into promoting CFL and grassroots support. We are all volunteers.

It's totally understandable to allow the producers at least some time before releasing it for free. It's actually quite generous on their part to release it for free at all.

I agree that it is their choice of course, but I think you actually make more money by releasing it for free.

EDIT: Because A LOT more people will see it and recommend it to their friends and such and a certain percentage will also buy a copy once they've seen it.

Yes, spreading the message is a very good thing, but in due time. It was just officially released Sept. 23rd.
