Still, it's stupid not to put it online.

(said something I clipped out of here because he annoyed me)
Congratulations on your technical expertise.
That's pretty freaking crappy, since the filmmaker already said several times that he was going to release a legitimate torrent as soon as the people having local premieres were all done.
Will it be uploaded to youtube and google video as well? Because I don't think that most people use torrents.
I shall wait for AdamT to answer this.
Yes, that is the point. IMO, there is value in going for the film festivals, awards, etc because that can really help bring it to the people. It's a slightly longer fuse but can have a much bigger bang. That totally sucks. Who cares about awards, bring "For Liberty" to the people!
My $0.02.Will it be uploaded to youtube and google video as well? Because I don't think that most people use torrents.
After looking into the film festivals (a very important part of spreading the message and getting awards/credibility for the film), they frown heavily on films on the internet. In other words, for the sake of getting into festivals we can't upload it just yet, and probably not until next spring.

There is no way to stop it. As crappy as it is I think every one expected it

Google video is shut down for new uploads, so no. They will only do YouTube if they get a directors account and can upload it all in one piece.
The importance of getting into big festivals greatly out weighs people wanting to watch it for free. The press and attention it would to the topic bring is priceless.
Thanks for the reply Bryan. I guess there might be merit in going for the festivals if there is a good chance that it will do well, and from what I hear it should (still waiting for my copy).

It's totally understandable to allow the producers at least some time before releasing it for free. It's actually quite generous on their part to release it for free at all.

I agree that it is their choice of course, but I think you actually make more money by releasing it for free.
EDIT: Because A LOT more people will see it and recommend it to their friends and such and a certain percentage will also buy a copy once they've seen it.
