::::Folding@Home::: Any active Ron Paul teams?

Team Ranking (incl. aggregate) Official page
Here
you find more elaborate but bit delayed team stats.

Moving up but we need more people to join. Download the beta client that uses both CPU and GPU(graphic card).

Team name is Ron Paul 2012 - team ID: 182919

You can also use your PS3. Here is how:

How do I get a copy of Folding@home for the PS3?

If you have PS3 system version 1.6 or later, you will see a Folding@home icon in the Network column of the XMB (PS3 menu). Just click on the icon and that's it. If you don't have 1.6 or later, please perform a system upgrade. Note that Folding@home for the PS3 is now included in the "Life With Playstation" application.

P.S: Don`t forget that you can use same user on multiple computers(PCs, Macs even PS3s). I`m running it on 2 computers now and will install it on 3 more under same user.

I added running it on an ATI HD 5770 video card last night. Looks like this project has had over 1.2 million users. It doesn't take much to pass hundreds of thousand of them in a couple of days, so come join us.

Ok, I joined, and bring an AMD x6 1090T & EVGA GTX570 SSC to the battle!
Using that beta client that they linked to, I'm seeing 99% GPU usage, 100% CPU usage.
So that seems to be doing its thing.

I'm not sure what this does or how it works, but It seems to be running 2 projects?
One is gonna take 2.5hrs for 1325 credits PRCG:6802
Other one is gonna take 11 hours for 2354.29 credits PRCG: 7905

Should it have 2 like this? Hitting pause stops both. There seems to be no way to make it have only 1?

A little side note. You can use more than one computer with same user, just make sure to get a passkey.

So if you have more than 1 PC around, laptop or whatever or even PS3, you can put all those to work.

Yes, because this Beta client supports both CPU and GPU. One line shows the CPU progress on certain project and the other shows the GPU progress on a different project. So basically you`re working on 2 different projects in parallel, at the same time.

You can select the Expert mode in top right corner to get more details. It will show you which one is assigned to the CPU and which to the graphic card.

so, there is no way to use the cpu and the gpu to complete the same project?

The GPU client runs so much faster, it makes me wonder if its even worth running the smp client...

If it takes 11hours for an x6 at 100%, I feel bad for guys running dual cores.

I take it that running battlefield 3 with this on would be a bad plan?

This really puts the hardware to the test! i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz and GTX 580 SLI @ stock running at 99% steady.

Well, the GPU is much more powerful in terms of processing power than the CPU, which pretty much explains the difference. I get same slow progress on CPU line vs GPU.

Team Ranking (incl. aggregate) 9009 of 209429 Almost made it into top 9k. We have 9 active people but could use a lot more.

F@H has many different cores for different projects. Each tailored to the cpu/gpu architecture, thats why you have to have a different project on the gpu.

Great idea! I have a PS3 I can put on this, but my other computer hardware is not so well suited for Folding. Any other Paul teams we might pump up?

On Folding@home, Ron Paul 2012 team, ID: 182919 is only one worth pumping. Other teams are much smaller, and would
be counter-productive joining more teams and dilute the results.

Of course, would be great to have more than one Ron Paul team in top 10, but let`s get this one first in top 10(we`re merely top 9k now) and worry about getting second team there after that happens. If thousands of supporters join this effort, we could easily get 3-4 teams or more in top ten.

Here is how to get it running on PS3:

If your goal is to get this team into the top 10, good luck with that. The vast majority of the high-ranked teams have been folding since before the original program was out of beta.

[H]ardOCP is the #1 team because they've got an extremely large amount of users with extremely beefy hardware that have been folding for their team since the beginning of the project.

The total number of users actively participating is pretty small compared to the number of Ron Paul supporters.

Processing power was much weaker few years ago than it is now, so we can easily make up for those years. We can also use the beta software which brings video cards to the table, getting points way faster(most users use the normal CPU only version).

Also, many people had this installed in the past because it came bundled with video card drivers and other software. That`s no longer the case as far as I know, at least ATI stopped bundling it together with their drivers.

Just checked the top 10. http://fah-web.stanford.edu/daily_team_summary.txt

Evga team is no1 would seem. HardOCP comes 2nd. Evga is a graphic card manufacturer. Sure, they may have a following but it`s pretty niche compared to Ron Paul`s base.

I also see teams like Overclockers Australia in top 10. I think a Ron Paul team can easily manage to get same score as Australian overclockers. Australia has a total population of only 22 million. How many of those are overclockers, and how many of those overclockers have actually joined that team? :)
