Florida: Which do we prefer, Romney or McCain?

Anyone have links to Florida Polls?

Everytime I see one on the news it doesn't have Ron Paul. But then again the percentages only add up to 80%.

Of course, hoping for a Ron Paul win. If not, would love a Guiliani win first and foremost, followed by a Romney win. The GHould would take a lot of support away from McCain in the NE if he is still in it on SUper Tuesday and has a win in FLA- Huckabee may take 2 or 3 states on Super Tuesday with McCain and ROmney splitting the rest- hopefully we can also take Alaska, Montana and New Mexico. The longer the Ghoul is in there, the better- he sucks votes away from McCain.

IMO having Romney and/or Obama in the general election drastically hurts Dr. Paul's chances.

I'd be fine with Romney taking Florida and getting the nomination. But a McCain nomination means BIG things for Ron Paul. Because he would be, if he ran, THE conservative voice in the national election. and he'd have a much wider audience to hear the message.

Plus, speaking on issues, if you have McCain up against Paul, it's an EASY win for Paul.

I can't stand McCain, his flip-flopping and 100 year Iraq war....but I agree he would be easier to beat than Romney.

OK, this is the only thread I'm being serious on tonight so far. If this is a tactical thread, OK, but the thread didn't start out that way. I saw it as a fragmentary thread. One that implicitly admits defeat. The only fragmentary threads I like are my own which are meant to be instructive jokes.

And I don't care if you don't think I'm funny because I don't think this thread is all that funny. It's not clear to me that OP isn't here to infiltrate although it is clear that some replies see this in the tactical sense. But even for this subset, it isn't clear what operative worth is gained because what are we supposed to do? Support the closest non-consensus building candidate?

That's us. We should spend no energy beyond speculation apart from our effort. We are the wedge. We keep a steady hand on the tiller, we'll sail right into a brokered convention. The message and the man before the nation. All we want.

Rasmussen has Romney 33%, McCain 27%, the Ghoul 18%, Huckabee 12% and RP at 2%. This poll was done before the governor of Florida endorsed McCain.

It doesn't matter whether we come in 2nd or 5th in Flordia- it is winner take all.

Giuliani or Huckabee. We need to keep the field fractured.

theres been alot of talk about the great doctor running third party....is that something he said he would do?? if so does that mean hed have to give up his seat as a republican congressman?

I'm wondering the same thing.. can anyone answer?

Seriously. What is up with this thread. We want Paul for Florida. Am I not getting something here?

The movement is strong in Florida. Very strong. Our people will make a good showing.

Listen, idiots....can I call you idiots? Great, as I was saying, idiots, everything we do is a win. Did you hear Dr. Paul? It's not about him, it's about the message? And the message is the movement and we are the movement?

Like we're what's important and by extension you are what's important? Like the whole "you are the movement" thing?

Like "he's only un-electable if the people don't believe and don't vote for him" thing?

Did everybody meetup in a new location or something?

It's because I smell? What all the sudden?

Dude, I think everyone here, who has given their time and money to this campaign, would love to see a win in every friggin' state and our message get out. The question asked originally to start the thread was pretty clear- if Paul doesn't win, who would we prefer to win Florida to make sure that we have as good a chance as possible to win the nomination. That's a pretty simple and straight-forward question and, because it is asked and answered, does not make any of us on this thread plants or spies or "idiots" or there being some vast conspiracy on the Ron Paul forums. It is a question- if you don't like the question, don't answer it- because each time you bitch it just gets bumped to the top of the forums for more people to read- you're defeating your own purpose.

So it's tactical. OK fine.

The only answer is Romney.

McCain will sell in FL for the same reason as NH: he's an old, familiar face/name.

Huckabee's coalition, the already fragmenting "evangelical vote" will be in full effect in FL.

Northern, elitist Romney, a Mormon no less, would be the divisive element to push if we weren't on the scene.

Romney is nothing in the Southeast. Giuliani is a bigger contender in FL than Romney. And I trust our people to beat both of these latters in FL.

Yup, sorry to reply to my own quote but this is the first serious Bible Belt state to be tested since LA and they seem mysteriously reluctant to produce a full vote count until after Super Tuesday.

But I eagerly await the results. I understand FL to be parts old South, retired Northerners, Latin American culture and big power. I've been to many parts of FL many times. There are many places I love and many places I hate but FL is many, many things. I know the remnants of the Seminole people still hide there. There are stories about how they helped many people. They helped us through a particularly hard period. They know a lot about the plants and stuff down there. We got this whole sub-tropical zone which is (or was) contiguous with South America so there are even big cats and itsy-bitsy deer and other strange animals down there.

LA was topsy-turvey. FL, if recent history is any guide, will be a freaking mess. If we place, the MSM will shut up about it. We will acrue delegates and march on.

What more do you people want from yourselves? You are becoming precinct committeemen or captains or delegates already. Keep doing what you are doing already!

if RP beats huckabee that would be great because then there would only be 4 or 3 if rudy drops too.

McCain is the lesser evil. Better McCain than Romney, because Romney is all that is wrong with politicians. That, and according to every poll he'll lose to either Hillary or Obama. McCain ties/beats both.

You want mccain, how would that make any sense. Mccain ties or beats both of who? the dems,, what bullshit poll are you looking at. Should I call that one up and double check it?
:D

According to realclearpolitics.com (a clearinghouse for polls), on the date I wrote that post, McCain was either tied with or beating both Hillary and Barack. Romney wasn't.
