Florida: Which do we prefer, Romney or McCain?

Come on people! We've got undecided voters viewing this site! What would they think if they saw that his own die-hards were giving up? You obviously aren't completley giving up, but you are giving up on the republican nomination which is pitiful. Don't become trolls....

I see your point. We were out there sign waving today, and passing out literature. This week I plan on finishing up my canvassing route. I'm happy to say Ron Paul is pulling 12% in GA in part because of our efforts, which is better than most other states.

Just thinking about Plan B, if there is one. No offense.

Rudy I think would be the best case scenario for us. Lose Huck and if Rudy took Florida it would remain a 4 man race into Super Tuesday. 4 MAn Super Tuesday is still our best shot at a brokered convention

I used to think Romney was the greater threat because of his propensity towards actually getting delegates vs. caring about media coverage and poll numbers, but NH has shown that the average person is dumb enough to still think of McCain as some sort of maverick or independent so that makes him a larger threat than Romney. Having Romney around will also increase the talk on the economy, one of Ron Paul's strengths. So I'm hoping McCain doesn't win Florida.

The 'big threat' of the week keeps shifting, because there is a need to stop both Romney or McCain from catching steam. Right now it's preferable for our purposes for Romney to edge out McCain because the MSM is ready to christen MCCain as the primary winner going into Super Tuesday. This will wound McCain, while also weakening Rudy because of losing FL (he might even finish behind Huckabee).

Meanwhile if Romney wins, he will be attacked all next week by the MSM because of the focus on his flip flops, because he kept them from christening McCain, and due to polls showing he trails Hillary. We need an "all 3-4 of them are wounded but not out" scenario going into ST to create as even a delegate split coming out of it as possible. Then with Rudy and Huck quitting, we'll have the 'road to a brokered con' opening for Paul to shine in.

Well, consider this. There's a lot of talk about Bloomberg jumping in after the republican nomination is over.

Of course, he won't run unless he feels he has a chance at getting elected. As a centrist candidate, he needs the most far right republican and far left democrat. McCain seems to be viewed as the most moderate of the bunch, so I guess Romney is the most 'conservative' by mainstream standards.

Why do we care about Bloomberg? To dilute the vote. For the same reason that RP actually benefits by having a tight race in the Republican nomination, we would need the general election vote to be as split up as possible. So if Bloomberg could pull ~5% from Democrats and ~5% from Republicans, that brings the frontrunners down into the 30%-40% range instead of 50%-40%.

That means Ron Paul needs less total votes to win. Do you see what I mean? I guess we want Ralph Nader to run, too. In that case, though, we need a more moderate Democrat. Would Bloomberg still try if a moderate dem got elected?

Anyway, I am rambling on to much...

Im not answering this question. Why? Because you could be a McCain or Romney supporter and announce that if Ron Paul drops out(which he wont) we would vote for that particular candidate.

News Headline on some site would say... "Ron Paul Supporters would vote (insert idiot here) if Paul drops out"

NO THANK YOU!

We definitely do not want McCain to win here. If he wins, he will be declared the Republican frontrunner and splattered all over the news.

I say if Romney wins we will be better off, especially if Rudy Giuliani doesn't get a strong 1st or 2nd place. If Rudy doesn't finish strong in Florida, which I predict he won't, he will most likely drop out of the race.

But why would we want Mr. Moneybags to have the most delegates?

I think it's the lesser of the two evils. If Romney wins and the subject is able to shift over towards the economy, people will be more inclined to vote for Ron Paul because of two things:

1) The so-called 'maverick' McCain won't look capable of winning and independent voters will start looking at other options, and
2) The focus will shift towards who can fix the economy, and that only leaves two options.

With McCain in the race he'll be able to fumble around and distract people from issues Ron Paul is strong on, and people will humour him enough that they might be distracted from the economy as an issue, and independent voters will pull another New Hampshire based on the myth of McCain.

I think the risk of Romney getting more delegates is worth it in the long run.

Oh, and one other thing: people may begin to recognize that oh yeah, people become presidential candidates by getting delegates, not by 'winning' states. That is also good for Ron Paul.

Romney winning in Florida will take away McCain's frontrunner status in the MSM which gives us time to hang in there untill Guliani and Huckabee drops out.

Probably Giuliani so McCain and Romney will not have a clear base of support. Keep spreading it around.

Better yet let's have Ron Paul win it. :)

If Ron isn't the Republican nominie would you still want the Republicans to win? I say no. With the economic $hitstorm that is comming down I think I'd like Hillary at the helm to catch it. That way maybe Ron Paul could lead a Congressional Revolution in 2010.

McCain, because the delegate count would be to out favor. Ron Paul with 12% in Florida ahead of Gulianiin, final results.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Ron isn't campaigning or spending money in Florida. Even less than Michigan. And he's being completely blacked out in news coverage. A this rate, 5 percent would be a miracle.

Where exactly is Ron campaigning now? Haven't heard much.

I really can't believe the ones that are saying McCain should win.
McCain is about 180 degrees away form Paul than any other candidate - EVEN More than Hillary.

I will only vote Ron Paul or against McCain - and I voted for that loser last election.
McCain does not care about America, he will sell us out quicker then he surrendered himself to the vietnamese.
Hillary will at least do what the polls say.
