While on the forums earlier, and actually watching the "Urgent Message from the Troops" video(again), there was knock at my door...

To my surprise, it was my neighbor who I really don't talk to much, aside from the cordial waves and hellos as I drive by. His father (WW2 infantry vet) had a RP sign up last cycle-which was replaced by a McCain sign later in the year. His father began putting pocket constitutions in everyone's mailboxes after Obama was elected, then faded off after his wife passed and his having a minor stroke.

Long story short-he wanted a yard sign, and to give me some stuff he has been writing the last year, mainly copies of his LTE's he's been sending back home(Ohio) and to our local paper, which has published everyone of them-they were all about Ron Paul, mostly stuff ripping on Gingrich though. I gave him a sign, we talked for about 30 minutes about current affairs, and I came back in to type this up. 10 minutes later, two more neighbors stopped by for their signs(all out now-I had 20:cool:).:D

In short, what prompted this post was not the fact that I got at least 5 more votes for RP-but that ALL of these folks are RETIRED. Of these 5, 4 were women(all doing their afternoon walk thing).

There have been a lot of posts and comments both here and at the Daily Paul about conceding or giving up Florida as a lost cause. Quite frankily-I'm getting sick of it, because it makes boots on the ground here look like we are fighting a lost cause, when it is most certainly not. I'm in the Panhandle-Neocon central, and pulled this off.

Keep talking to your neighbors, classmates, coworkers and friends Florida-even the older ones. I have not shut up yet a about RP since 2007, and it is paying off big time in my neighborhood.

Pics tomorrow when its light again.

+ there is no practical point of giving up anything with the split delegates sistem of Florida this year.
Also you don't want to arrive 5th with 7% or something,THAT does not look right for the rest of the race.

No,nothing to give up,we have a potential to win everywhere this year, even Florida.

As an Iowan, I, of course, put my full attention to converting Iowans to Ron Paul's ideas. I in no way would discourage other people in other states from organizing and building support for Paul elsewhere.

My worst fear is having put all this work in to win Iowa only to see the campaign fizzle out afterwards. This is a great story to read and I hope the message keeps spreading!

The campaign is obviously waiting to see what happens in Iowa and NH first. I can't blame them either. Flordia will suck the campaign dry

When the sleepers awake in Florida it will be quite a good show. Connect up, get organised on the ground.

Yeah, I see the campaigns approach, I'm more concerned with the "people" constantly saying it isn't worth trying, because it may become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

There is no reason not to campaign for Ron Paul in the state where you live. That is kind of like not trying to patch the roof on your leaky house the day before a big rainstorm.

Florida has a lot of delegates, and a 15% showing should provide a decent chunk of those.

Always remember that it's the MESSAGE.
And it affects ALL Americans, and to a great extent the world.

I've been saying this for MONTHS now. About time the forum started to wake up and realize all hope is not lost in FL, let alone any state. We have 2 straw polls wins in the past week and a half. We have massive groups that are out spreading the word 7 days a week.

We have a great shot at placing high/winning... IF we all keep doing our part.

If you are located in the tampa bay area and have not contacted me yet... please send me a note so I can get you activated :D

We need to start planning our efforts in primaries past New Hampshire. An early start can put us at an advantage.

I think it is next to a lost cause in WNC where I live. I hardly ever find in fellow supporters I have not myself converted. I would say he has less then 10% here but the thing is if he wins IA and NH all bets are off. If people get there heads out of there a$$es and realize he actually can win he could have a groundswell. Asheville though you have no chance nothing but die-hard lefties that vote solely on party. The Obama stickers around here sicken me.

FL is a winner take all system. There is a chance that someone will bring a motion to change that at the state convention. There is a chance that the motion will pass. Until then, as has been pointed out on RPF for months now, FL is winner take all.

Nobody knows if it will be proportional or winner take all. There is a hearing scheduled for mid January to decide it.

that's awesome OP. It's important we push hard in both South Carolina and Florida, but I think a realistic goal is a strong second place.

I could see the following happen:

Iowa- 1st
NH- 2nd
South Carolina- 2nd/3rd
Florida- 2nd/3rd
Nevada- 1st
Maine- 1st

I think this scenario is likely and would give us a very strong chance at the nomination.

I agree. I'm in FL as well, Orlando, and I wear a Ron Paul shirt and/or pin every day and EVERY DAY I get a comment on it, usually positive. Florida is definitely not a lost cause but it's way more important that we focus on Iowa and NH first... if we don't win or at least do really well there, FL won't even matter anymore by that time.

What Ron Paul activists in FL need to remember is to remind people to register Republican before the deadline because we have closed primaries here. That's a big hurdle for us. And the deadline is fast approaching...

Well then maybe REVPAC can help there. They've designed some awesome ads already, I have no doubt they can come up with something special for WNC liberals. "Are you happy with Obama signing away your civil liberties? Are you happy Obama has ramped up the war in Afghanistan and started new wars? Wouldn't you rather know that your tax money was being spent at home?" and so on. Write to Tom Woods about this.

keep fighting in every state. If we win iowa it will make my job easier motivating folks to caucus to support me as a delegate for Ron Paul in Colorado! Everything we do works hand in hand!! Florida is not a lost battle nor is sc we can win them all!
