Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is reportedly being investigated by federal authorities, who are probing whether he had sex with a 17-year-old girl and violated sex trafficking laws.

The Department of Justice initiated the probe, three sources told The New York Times, which is said to stem from an existing investigation into one of Gaetz’s political allies, Joel Greenberg, who was indicted last summer on charges including sex trafficking of a child.

Gaetz, 38, has denied the allegations and said he is cooperating with the FBI.

“In the strongest possible terms. I deny that I have ever been with someone underage,” he told The Post Tuesday. “That is false.”

He added that he became aware of the probe after two of his ex-girlfriends were contacted by authorities.

“They were asked why I had given them plane tickets, money, and other interactions. They were in their 20s,” he said.

Federal investigators are probing whether Gaetz paid a 17-year-old girl — whom he reportedly interacted with two years ago — to travel with him. It is illegal to persuade anyone under 18 to travel across state lines for sex in exchange for gifts.

The lawmaker told The Times he suspects somebody is trying to extort him and his family for $25 million.

“I have a suspicion that someone is trying to recategorize my generosity to ex-girlfriends as something more untoward,” he told the newspaper.

He added in a series of tweets Tuesday night that he and his family have been working with the feds in an investigation that involves a former DOJ official seeking to extort him.

“My father has even been wearing a wire at the FBI’s direction to catch these criminals. The planted leak to the FBI tonight was intended to thwart that investigation,” Gaetz wrote.

“I demand the DOJ immediately release the tapes, made at their direction, which implicate their former colleague in crimes against me based on false allegations,” he added.

Gaetz, who got engaged last December to Ginger Luckey, told The Post that he had dated a woman for three years after she was in a relationship with Greenberg.

“That’s our connection,” he said.

Greenberg, a former tax collector from the Orlando area, pleaded not guilty last year to the charges against him, the Times reported. He was jailed this month for violating his bail.

BREAKING: Gaetz Tells Tucker Sex Trafficking Allegation "Verifiably False," Names Alleged Blackmailer
https://redstate.com/joesquire/2021...iably-false-names-alleged-blackmailer-n353035

Hours after the New York Times broke a story on the Justice Department investigating sex trafficking allegations against Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fl.), Gaetz appeared on Fox News’ Tucker to refute the claims.

Asked about the story by Tucker Carlos, Gaetz says “It is a horrible allegation, and it is a lie.”

Gaetz reiterated claims made on Twitter and elsewhere that the allegations stem from a former Justice Department official who was attempting to blackmail him. That official, who Gaetz named as “David McGee,” contacted Gaetz’s father, according to the Republican House member.

Gaetz says his family went to the local FBI in Florida, who then asked his father to wear a wire in his next meeting with the extortionist, who wanted millions of dollars in a “down payment” for the ransom.

The original reporting by the New York Times was confirmed by three unnamed sources. RedState has confirmed that Gaetz’s father did indeed wear a wire during the course of an investigation.

In the Times‘ original story, Gaetz is alleged to have traveled with an unnamed 17-year-old girl and that the Justice Department’s investigation is centered around this travel, which appears to include sexual relations and compensation, is tied to a Gaetz ally, Joel Greenberg. During the interview with Carlson, Gaetz says his travel records can prove no such trips took place.

The Republican, who is an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump, says he is the target of a smear campaign in an attempt to remove him from power. Rep. Ted Lieu (D-Ca.) has already posted a statement on Twitter calling for Gaetz to be removed from the House Judiciary Committee.

Gaetz on NY Times ‘Underage Girl’ Story: ‘It Is a Horrible Allegation and It Is a Lie’

Tuesday on FNC’s “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) responded to allegations in a New York Times story that the Justice Department investigated him over whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.

Gaetz denied the claims, calling them “a lie,” and claimed it was part of an extortion scheme, naming Pensacola, FL lawyer David McGee, a former U.S. Attorney, as

“It is a horrible allegation, and it is a lie,” he said. “The New York Times is running a story that I have traveled with a 17-year-old woman, and that is verifiably false. People can look at my travel records and see that that is not the case. What is happening is an extortion of me and my family involving a former Department of Justice official. On March 16, my father got a text message demanding a meeting wherein a person demanded $25 million in exchange for making horrible sex trafficking allegations against me go away.”

“Our family was so troubled by that, we went to the local FBI,” Gaetz continued. “And the FBI and the Department of Justice were so concerned about this attempted extortion of a member of Congress that they asked my dad to wear a wire, which he did with the former Department of Justice official. Tonight, I am demanding that the Department of Justice and the FBI release the audio recordings that were made under their supervision and at their direction, which will prove my innocence and that will show that these allegations aren’t true. They are merely intended to try to bleed my family out of money.”

“And this former Department of Justice official tomorrow was supposed to be contacted by my father so that specific instructions could be given regarding the wiring of $4.5 million as a down payment on this bribe,” he added. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence that tonight somehow, The New York Times is leaking this information, smearing me, and ruining the investigation that would likely result in a one of the former colleagues of the current DOJ being brought to justice for trying to extort me and my family.”

Carlson asked the Florida congressman who the individual was that attempted the alleged extortion. Gaetz then named McGee.

“His name is David McGee,” Gaetz replied. “He was a top official in the leadership in the Northern District of Florida as a prosecutor. He currently works at the Beggs & Lane law firm. As a matter of fact, one of the recordings that was made at the FBI and Department of Justice request occurred at that law firm, and the money that was supposed to be paid today that would have shown even more evidence of David McGee’s work in this extortion scheme, that was foiled by The New York Times story, and I believe that why this horrible information and terrible allegations have been used this evening.”

Gaetz speculated the story was leaked to the Times as a way to quell the investigation.

“What was supposed to happen was the transfer of this money that would have implicated the former colleague of these current DOJ officials,” he said. “But that’s obviously not going to happen tomorrow because The New York Times story was leaked in order to quell that investigative effort. So here is what needs to happen next. The FBI and the Department of Justice must release the tapes that are in their possession that were done at their direction. Those tapes will show that I am innocent and that the whole concept of sex charges against me was really just a way to try to bleed my family out of money and probably smear my name because I am a well-known outspoken conservative, and I guess that’s out of style in a lot of part of the country right now.”

Either Gaetz is lying, and he's just another kiddie diddling swamp creep like the rest of the cum drunk sluts, fagggots, perverts and weirdosexuals...

Or...

He is laying out, and a victim of, a level of corruption so deep, so tainted, so evil that we, the American people, have no further choice: we must openly declare war against the hostile regime in DC and defend ourselves, with force and remove these criminals.

Which one do you think is more likely?

As long as the 17 year old part isn't true, I really don't care much about the rest of it.

Former Federal Prosecutor David L. McGee, Accused by Rep. Gaetz of Extortion, Represented Robert Levinson In Kidnapping Case with Iran

Former federal prosecutor David McGee was accused by Rep. Matt Gaetz of extortion this evening on the Tucker Carlson Show on FOX News.
We reported moments ago on the bizarre story that started earlier in the day at The New York Times.

The NY Times released a report claiming that Rep. Matt Gaetz from Florida was being investigated for having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl a couple of years ago. Gaetz then went on Tucker’s FOX News Show where he claimed the following:

Rep. Matt Gaetz: What is happening is an extortion of me and my family involving a former Department of Justice official. On March 16th, my father got a text message demanding a meeting wherein a person demanded $25 million in exchange for making horrible sex trafficking allegations of me go away. Our family was so troubled by that we went to the local FBI and the FBI and the Department of Justice were so concerned about this, that they asked my dad to wear a wire. Which he did with the former Department of Justice official. Tonight I am demanding that the Department of Justice and the FBI release the audio recordings that were made under their supervision and at their direction which will prove me innocence. These allegations are true and they were meant to bleed my family. This former Department of Justice official tomorrow was supposed to be contacted by my father so that specific instructions could be given regarding the wiring of $4.5 million as a down payment on this bribe. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that tonight somehow The New York Times is leaking this information, smearing me and ruining the investigation.

Tucker Carlson: …First of all, who is this Department of Justice former employee who is trying to extort the money from you.

Rep. Gaetz: His name is David McGee… He currently works at the Beggs and Lane law firm.

We did some research on Mr. McGee and discovered that he received a number of accommodations in 1996 on his record but none since:

Honors and Awards
Outstanding Service Award – U.S. Department of Justice (1996)
Outstanding Service Award – U.S. Marshall’s Service (1996)
Special Commendation from the Director of the FBI (1988)
Certificate of Appreciation – U.S. Secret Service (1996)
Certificate of Appreciation – U.S. Treasury Service (1996)

Also of note is that Mr. McGee was involved in a high-profile case in the past.

Maybe both?

Right?

Regardless of the circumstances of this case, I'd be wary of Gaetz. To me, he has sleazy politician written all over him. To be honest, his voting record is not too bad, but I think that's because of the character he's creating more than from any set of principles. I can see the powerlust in his eyes and I don't like it. I'll take his no votes on bills and keep my distance from him personally. This kind of guy will throw liberty under the bus as soon as it becomes politically expedient.

Did you see Gaetz in the documentary that featured Massie? Think it was called The Swamp.

It's probably untrue because he's gay. He is likely a pedo though. He kept a Cuban boy as a live-in plaything from age 12 to 19.

Is 17 year old even "kiddie diddling"? It's legal in most states. (@dannno correct me if wrong)

It's kind of difficult to be judgmental when half of the chicks on pornhub are 18

I'm of the general opinion that 99% of the "sex trafficking / pedo" that politicians get accused of is completely bogus.

It's just such an immensely effective way to discredit/extort/control, that of course it would be used against politicians.

Of the general population, how many people are pedo's? 1%? 0.1%?

How many politicians get accused of this stuff? Like 1 in 3.

It's crossing state lines that's a crime.

Context is important in Soviet Amerika, comrade. Who is being accused is a primary consideration. In some cases, 17 is an adult. They want them to be able to vote and make all kinds of adult decisions. On the other hand, a teenage murderer may be considered a child, depending upon the intersectional circumstances.

In Hollywood, 17 would be considered a bit long in the tooth. As long as it’s done artistically, or with a politically correct reasoning, all children are adult actors. Academy Awards may result. Just ask Brooke Shields.
