Filibuster Round 2

Stand with Rand! In 24 hours Rand has voted against fast track and helped kill the Patriot Act extension (for now anyway). Not bad for a day's work. I'm not surprised Faux News isn't reporting it. They'll have Miss Lindsay Graham on later on to tell us all how there will be blood in the streets if we don't spy on Americans.

Yea, I'm sure they will be demonizing Rand soon enough. I feel very strongly that the media is going to ramp up the propaganda big time around Wednesday or so and trying to tear down Rand every way they can. I will be shocked if they don't start going after Rand more aggressively.

“When I get back, I’m going to challenge his construct that the NSA and those who work there are more dangerous to our country than the al-Qaeda and ISIL threat The things he said on the floor about the program are absolutely outrageous,” speak and thereby figuratively drop a turd into your drink. I may also drone you, said Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. Graham staffers were heard saying they're like totally gonna win n' stuff, and now they need to focus on getting 1% to get a spot in the debates.

I have audio back.. Is this vote now on what, the highway bill?

Not sure what is on your screen, but on my C-SPAN 2 it is a replay of the Patriot Act NSA Provisions. I'm pretty sure this is for the USA Freedom Act where it doesn't get the 60 votes necessary to advance for the vote. Then you'll see the Extension until July 31st lose by an even larger margin. Then the fireworks really start with Rand (and others) objecting to McConnell's extensions of something like 5 days, 3 days, and then 2 days which all were objected to and denied. Finally, you had Murkowski (or whatever her name is from Maryland) going berserk.

They passed the highway bill without doing a recorded vote after the Patriot Act got voted down.

I thought they were going with the strategy to black him out and pretend like he is not running

This has been one heck of a week, my friends. Rand is driving the miniature tyrants up the wall.

Expect more paid shills - they don't want to crucify him in public but demoralize his supporters. Talking points seem to be downplaying his role in the movement to end the patriot act, they want to convince people its a group effort.

Mr. Graham was speaking from the men's bathroom in Rest Stop C off of Interstate 95, where he is currently vacationing.

The only acceptable response to anything Peter King says: "You supported the IRA, a listed terrorist group, therefore you should be in Guantanamo, turrist."

After tonight, the Rand-Mitch relationship may well be dead.

I didn't read through the whole thread, so this may already be mentioned but,... I seriously don't think this will affect the Rand-McConnell relationship at all. McConnell will of course try to push trough a clean patriot act reauthorization, it's demanded of him by his military-industrial complex donors. When it fails, he'll compromise, of course. Rand's hope is to push the debate enough in his direction to get some powerful amendments on the likely-to-pass USA Freedom act. If so, McConnell will accept the outcome - and move on. If McConnell gets the act reauthorized, he will also move on afterwards. That's the thing with McConnell, he's so addicted to power that he never can afford to hold a grudge. I think he will even fundraise for Matt Bevin in the KY governors race.
