Had to make a gif version to post on another site:

LMAO he was also scratching his nose. Classic "I'm annoyed as fk" body language..... :D :D :D

Nice capture of the booger-hook too!

XNN

Go watch it again! I think he ate it!! LOL

I think we're gonna have to go to the judges for a ruling... pick or scratch?

It's like that episode of Seinfeld. I can hear Lindsey in my head saying, "No, it wasn't a pick!"

I work master control at a PBS station, so I caught a bunch of the news coverage after this went down. One of the show's intro started with a montage of various quotes from the 'top tier' candidates. Bush, Walker and Paul (filibustering) all had equal billing while Rubio and a couple of the others were just given a few b-roll shots. :D Overall the coverage I caught was fair and pretty positive toward Rand.

Today on FOX News Sunday with Chris Wallace, Mike Huckabee came out pretty strongly against the bulk collection of records. Rand was not mentioned though. This is going to be a significant topic in the debates

Ben Carson is against it as well.

The Dems are embarrassed that Rand might do more in a few weeks to end the Patriot Act than they did in 13 years. They're terrified that this will also help him become President.

Fuck Claire McCaskill, she's had over 8 years to do anything with the NSA and now wants to "reform" it only because it is politically popular to do so. Where were the Democrats when the Patriot Act was being passed? Oh yeah, that's right they were all voting for it. They like to tout themselves as the party of "civil liberties" yet they've voted for every Bill of Rights trampling legislation to come through the pipe and now are playing politics against Rand (with the exception of Ron Wyden) who has a legit shot to kill the Patriot Act because he has an (R) behind his name. Rand has been schooling the left on civil liberties and non-intervention for nearly 6 years now and all they've done is drag their feet and harp on Rand about abortion or Wall St. or some other bullshit.

I don't trust Huckabee, he's a snake oil salesman. He's only got religion on the Bill of Rights now that it is popular to do so. Not that I don't appreciate that it is now popular to pander for freedom, but Huckabee will shift with the winds on civil liberties.

There were more Democrat Senators standing with Rand during this filibuster than Republicans. But go ahead with your Team Red cheerleading.

Yes, quite right, and that's a good thing.

There's nothing more reliable than a man whose loyalty can be bought for hard cash/votes/ratings.

90%, say, of politicians are sans principles; they just follow the leader.

So, let's us be the leader.

There were 10 Senators standing with Rand. 7 were Democrats. 3 were Republican and this guy decides to go off on Team Blue while saying nothing about Team Red. And you of course support that bias view. Go TEAM RED!

Claire McCaskill has been in the US Senate since 2007. Obama assumed office in 2009. All through 2009 and 2010, both chambers of Congress and the White House were controlled by Democrats. McCaskill did NOTHING to try and end or reform the Patriot Act during that time. The US House went Republican in 2011, but the Senate remained in Democratic control until 2015. She has had 8 full years in a majority position with a Democratic President to offer any kind of reform package for domestic surveillance and she did not. The fact that her own party was in control of both chambers of Congress and the White House after her first couple years, and then she spent another 6 years in a Senate majority with a Democratic President is entirely relevant.

Like it or not, politics is done by parties and majorities. She is in the Democratic Party, and she has been in the majority for a very long time. The criticism is quite appropriate.

NOW that Republicans are in the majority, it makes more sense to be critical of Republicans.

It was silly to criticize Senate Republicans for getting nothing done while Harry Reid was in charge. Of course they got nothing done: Harry Reid was in charge. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and we await with bated breath what wonderful things the Republicans will (fail to) do.

The observation that Claire is a Democrat who was in a Democratic majority, and failed to do anything of what she is criticizing Rand Paul for actually doing, is a valid observation. That's not really partisanship as much as it is simple recognition of political reality.

I don't think it can be emphasized enough that Rand can let the provisions in the Patriot Act expire if he wants them to expire. Articles like this from the New York Times talk about the scrambling going on to get 3 more Senators to vote for the USA Freedom Act. But the New York Times points out that all of this is contingent on getting a vote. Everyone here and in the media seems convinced that it will get a vote. I am trying to figure out why that is. Rand has the power to object and deny a vote on the floor.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/26/us/politics/senate-seeks-nsa-and-phone-data-deal-during-break.html

"That hard deadline again puts the fate of Section 215 in the hands of Mr. Paul, who has made his stand against government surveillance central to his presidential aspirations, with hours long talkathons on the Senate floor, accompanied by fund-raising pitches and the selling of filibuster souvenirs.

If he objects to an immediate vote on a compromise, a lapse in authority appears inevitable, and rebuilding it will not be easy."

Randal has been very accommodating on the issue. He has said from the outset that he is fine with letting it up for a vote as long as he is able to submit and get votes in his amendments. it is Mitch that has not allowed that and as a result gotten the horns.

You are exactly right. That is what Rand has said. And he has hinted that he would still be open to a vote if his amendments get vote. But he has also said the Patriot Act should expire. Even though Rand is only person in the Senate who wants this to expire, he has the power to do it. I cannot believe he would not exercise that power.

Unanimous consent is required to extend the existing provisions, the UFA passed the house majority and would need only a majority in the senate and signed by obama to become law. That's why they were so pissed at Rand in the first place, they wanted him to vote with his party on UFA. Even at the last minute when they didn't get a majority they wanted to extend it so they can go on vacation and that's when Rand blocked the extension.

Criticism of McCaskill is fair. Criticism of the entire Democratic might be fair too but to do it and criticize one team without criticizing the other team is partisan no matter how you try to spin it. ESPECIALLY when there were more Democrats "standing with Rand" than Republicans. Stand by your team!! GO TEAM RED!

You don't.....seriously.....think any major poster around here is a partisan do you?

Would it please you if we all THOUGHT the same exact way? And to answer your question, yes, I seriously do think there are partisan posters here. I have made my points and explained why I felt that way in my previous posts.

We are team RAND here, Rand is nonpartisan he voted against the UFA and filibustered because he agrees with Civil rights groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation, arguing that it doesn't go far enough to stop NSA spying. If you want to argue partisan politics though the democrats and republicans overwhelmingly support the bill that continues the bulk collection of American phone calls and is a reform in name only.
