I wrote to General Mills and told them I supported them and CheeriO's and that I hope they will stand up to the FDA on this. All you letter writers join me in this.

Next, they will claim water is a drug because it actually hydrates your body, much like a "hydration drug" that's probably in the works.

Actually, there was a bill someone posted a day or so ago, that would put ALL of the water in the country under the control of the federal government. No kidding.

Done.

"Please don't allow the FDA to bully you. Cheerios is NOT a drug, it's a FOOD and you have every right to advertise the health benefits of your food. The FDA is a joke- they approve poison for baby formula yet they have an issue with Cheerios? I'm a mom of 3 and I have a box in my cabinet now. I will buy MORE- as in be a very loyal customer- and become a Cheerios advocate if you stand up to these nimrods. I swear I think the current bureaucracies are now competing to see which one can look like the biggest idiot."

All I can do while reading this story is laugh, partly because it is ludicrous, and partly because this is our tax dollars at work.

Horses are aware that oats are good for you. So, what this amounts to is the FDA trying to abolish horse sense.

I can see it now. All the execs that work for the companies that manufacture the liver-killing cholesterol drugs were wondering why their profits were tanking. They watched a Cheerios commercial in the boardroom and then came up with a cunning plan...
