Everybody here needs to read Sun Tzu's The Art of War...

I heard somewhere that in Machiavelli's The Art of War, he suggests faking ones death as a strategy to deceive his enemies. Could this be what Ron is doing?

Everything can be used in this way, it all depends on how you play your hand.

The best poker players aren't the ones who have A's up their sleeve, they are the ones who are persistent.

I like that General Tsu guy he makes some really good chicken! ;) Sorry but I just had to get that in there! Lol.

i read the art of war, and regardless my opinion about this book, there things you can have in your mind to use when is needed, for instance one suggestion i remember this:
when you are at disadvantage, you may look you are fighting as expected so you keep your opponent confident of himself.
By doing so, you keep your real winning strategy safe from your opponents eyes, so when you use your card it is unexpected, and you win.

This is actually on my reading list for other reasons. Rules for Radicals would also be a good idea. We are doing Alinsky style stuff. Using rules against the rulemakers. Legal and nonviolent. :)

Please post a picture of the best version of The Art of War book.
This. Which edition is the best?

I have this one.

My wife (a Chinese who came here after from China after college) claims that the translation by Thomas Cleary is closest to the original.

"Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him."

This quote I hold onto strongly especially now. Any book we can read, they can read too.

I'm not sure the typical establishment GOPer has any of this on his/her reading radar :)

"Put the army in the face of death where there is no escape and they will not flee or be afraid. There is nothing they cannot achieve."-The art of war

Well? Are we not in the face of death now with these recent happeneings?

I really believe that Ron is pulling some Sun Tsu with this whole announcement and "change" of plan. If you read carefully, there are NO lies in the report (it's been about delegates all along). I think this strategy is to throw off the Romney camp and make them think all the Ron Paul people are history now. I believe we all should follow this lead and become quiet little Ron Paul supporters. We will continue to wear our pins and hats but we should not be loud or boisterous. I think we talk in a normal voice to the person closest to us and expound on the wisdom of liberty, sound money and protection of rights. How can ANY republican disagree with these talking points?

Go to convention, let it be known you are a Ron Paul liberty representative but be nice and smile to everyone. We will win because we stand for truth.

This is not only a war activity, but a marketing activity. This book will explain why good sales people approach you, and within a few minutes, you're holding something you didn't really want and they just walked off with the money you gave them.

We have some things very ingrained in us that are difficult to resist even if we know what is going on. For instances, the moonies have been so successful at fundraising because they give you a gift. You suddenly feel indebted, uncomfortable, and feel you need to return that generosity. This is why people will go to great lengths to avoid being handed a flower in the firs place, even darting to other sides of an airport, running from them, ignoring them. They know what feeling is coming if they accept one. Then even after people have donated, they throw away the flowers they didn't want. The moonies retrieve them and resuse them lol

Well worth the listen (podcast) and read (Sam's books).

Sam Sheridan author of "A Fighter's Mind" and "A Fighter's Heart: One Man's Journey Through the World of Fighting"

Ron Paul has always been Sun Tzu. He wants a government much smaller than the constitution prescribes, but acts like he only wants to bring it to constitutional levels.

Sun Tzu rules. The Art of War is definitely a book that EVERYONE should read and understand. I'd also recommend The Prince by Machiavelli, Meditations by Aurelius, the Tao and the Hagakure. I sincerely believe that those books combine to give any reader the emotional, intellectual and spiritual foundation required to be a honest, hard-working, self-less and optimistic person.

Agreed, I am re-reading the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius. Amazing how the philosophy from the East & West are so similar. I suppose truth is that way.

By starting the shadow GOP in Nevada, this strongly suggest 2 things. First, the statements were for the media b/c of the spin. This takes some public focus off of the delegate strategy while neutralizing Romney mentioning Paul. Romney is very aware of that Paul is still attacking from within, but he can't speak against without sounding alarms. Second, this should be an eye-opener about the real delegate count, why else would Romney take this risk?

The tactic I am employing is instead of defending or promoting Paul in the comments sections of bs articles, I am simplying stating the omissions of the article and referring to other MSM articles that support the omissions to stimulate the masses to stop and think. I also try to show the reason for character attacks between Romney and Obama is b/c they do not contrast each other on the issues. But I try not to use catch phrases or direct ideas associated with Paul in order to remove the manipulated public bias that has been implanted.

Paul is far from finished, but needs to look weak right now and that's where his supporters take the lead. "When you're strong, you act weak and when you're weak, you act strong." -- Not sure where it came from but makes sense, at least in my eyes.
