Everybody here needs to read Sun Tzu's The Art of War...

"Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him."

This quote I hold onto strongly especially now. Any book we can read, they can read too.

My favorite quote from the book has always been, "If you know the (strengths and weaknesses of the) enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.".

one of my favorites is:

"Contributing to maintain an army at a distance causes the people to be impoverished. " -- Sun Tzu.

Any book we can read, they can read too.
The smart ones probably already have, but regardless, we know that they'll use any "weakness" (usually just ones they make up or embellish) against us, so we need to be ready to take advantage of our strengths and know their strengths/weaknesses even better.

Even if you don't read the book, that's the biggest lesson to take away from it, IMO.

These UN-Constitutional wars have been conducted in complete opposition to the teachings of Sun Tzu. Today's military operations are an opposite shadow version of Operation Overlord. The invasion of Europe in WWII applied the truths of warfare and victory passed along by Sun Tzu and many others.

Hey, you've been mentioned on The Guardian online newspaper just now! Thanks for taking the effort to keep morale high! :)

Article: 'Ron Paul suspends presidential campaign – but supporters stay loyal'

""Stop overreacting," wrote a commenter at ronpaulforums.com, the online hub for Paul supporters. "It's always been a delegate strategy, and this changes nothing, when the media was going to black out any campagining he did anyway." The commenter has written hundreds of posts on the forum under the name TheGrinchWhoStoleDC."

Looks to me like Dr. Paul is using these tactics with this latest move. I see no where in any announcement from the campaign that he's quitting. Only that he's not going to spend money to garner votes. I think that's a wise decision. We cannot "wage war" with Romney in this way. He has way too many resources at his disposal. He will now have to spend those resources on adds trying to explain away his past record as the Obama group start to hit him with flaming arrows. We sit back quietly working to become delegates is EVERY state. Even if we have to be Romney delegates. Go to Tampa and while Romney fights his battles and takes his wounds, we provide a pure unblemished alternative at convention...

Ha, that's awesome! They seem to be buying into it hook-line-and-sinker that this means he's suspending his campaign, so maybe this move by the campaign is looking more Sun-Tsu-ish than first thought.

Posted this on another thread, maybe more relevant here:

Fascinating to think what Romney is thinking.

The other day he challenges Ron Paul's economic policy, because he KNOWS that Ron is a real threat when it comes to the nomination. He knows this, despite what the media say.

Now everyone is saying Ron is out. What do you think Romney's first thought was? I bet it was "There is no way Ron Paul has dropped out". So now he knows the threat remains, and he knows that now nobody is going to be worrying about it. If you thought this "news" shook you up, I bet it is petrifying Romney.

Its like when you KNOW there is a monster under your bed. And your mom and dad come in the room, check under the bed and say "see, there's nothing there"...

Then they leave and turn out the lights.

I was an English major in college, so I have plodded through some difficult reading material in my time. This book is killing me, however. I don't know why I'm having such trouble getting through it, especially when it seems so many others have read it, enjoyed it, and taken a lot away from it...
The Art of War is a difficult book.
