Event Parimeters:
First off, it CAN'T be 'soley' at the GOP convention.
Rolling the dice on the LAST possible day is a VERY BAD idea.
Prudence and plain common sense should immendiately rule this out.
So what, when and where? I know, Aimee Allen needs to be there. And there needs to be an 'ACTION'. Just showing up and having a party is counter productive.
1) the main focus needs to be media. (MSM, radio and net) bring them with you. bring video recorders. have a massive PR campaign far in advance. Outreach to Constitutional groups, NRA, Tech groups, Vet groups, AP, BBC, Reuters, Lou Dobbs, Jack Cafferty, (book signings) etc.
2) multiple ACTIONS - we need to be doing something -
- a) shutting down a town w/a sit-in or parade and/or
- b) signing a redress and/or
- c) ringing the liberty bell (or a similar bell) a million times and/or
- d) making a documentary and/or
- e) making an "in the can" news report (with arial shots) and/or
- f) have a Freedom Bike auction (cable show)
- g) have a trick my car auction (cable show)
- h) have a trick my truck auction (cable show)
- i) have a house redo charity event (many cable shows)
- j) have multiple celebrity charity events
- k) have a fair (mostly out of necessity)
- l) have a bike rally (always a crowd generator) have bike reps there as well
- m) have it over several days ie. a convention
- n) maybe a wine and food event
- o) schedule it around a technology convention and/or gun show
3) Celebrities - drag them out of the closet and get them there - Cruise, Will Smith?, etc. (now's the time)... Alex Jones, the whole 911 groups - (there as RP supporters) - this is a lot of high level people. Dennis Kucinich, Gravel etc. Dress Uniform vets etc. bikers for Paul, Granny Warriors, strippers for Paul etc. Does Orange County Choppers support Paul? (get a Discovery episode w/ Paul - have them make a Freedom Bike and auction it off)
4) Concert ala Woodstock - but measured - this CAN'T be the focus.
5) Maybe a colonial war re-enactment, or Paul Reveres ride
6) It CAN't be a holiday - this would cancel media attention - but it might be a holiday weekend ie. July 5, 6 or before (june 28,29) or after (july 12,13)
7) because fireworks would be nice regardless.
8) Sept 11th is Patriot Day as well as 9/11, that's 2 weeks before the GOP convention, this could work as well... maybe in addition to.
9) video connections to other countries having similar events (international)
10) maybe a 2 event deal, one in Vegas, one in the east. on separate dates
11) maybe get Stephen Colbert to cover it we call it: Colbert's Ron Paul International Freedom Convention
Whatever we do, it needs to be massive, it needs to draw non-Paul supporters, it has to be specifically about Paul, and the media has to be banging the doors down to cover it.
That's off the top of my head,
What else you got?
