NOBP!
Is the campaign going to bring to the media attention?
Is the campaign going to bring to the media attention?
They don't. And that's the point.
If nobody turns out and they send just a few establishment cronies, they can vote one of their own in as Delegate Chair. With that position, they're in control. They win.
This is what we're up against up here.
And who is allowed at these caucuses? Shouldn't everyone have been covered already?
Is the campaign caucus page being updated as these rogue caucuses are added? Because I and maybe others have facebook ads directing people to that caucus web page for information.
What else can we do?
RP should complain BEFORE it's over for four reasons.
1. Prevention. Some people may be hesitant to join the conspiracy if there's a chance it'll become known.
2. Credibility. The complaining afterwords will be dismissed as whining. Also, if there's is a statistical difference in results between established caucus sites and created last minutes sites, it'll add credibility to the complaint if the complaint was made pointing to this sites BEFORE.
3. Exposure.
4. Final and thee most important. It's time to turn around and face the establishment trickery.
Campaign - issue a call to arms. People will support you.
He or the campaign should certainly make a PUBLIC POINT about it, short of whining. Something like they want people to be very aware that some in the state GOP seem to be setting up last minute caucuses, and the campaign is concerned people's votes won't be counted if they end up going to the wrong place, having checked where their caucus was earlier this week..... and be very concerned about notice and time for people to find out about it. That is different from saying 'you're screwing us!'. It is saying 'this is really amazing lack of notice and we are concerned'.
The GOP website isn't even being updated with this. We can't rely on anyone other than ourselves.
Spread the word far and wide.
Yeah, what time do these caucuses start? 9am? I bet they lock the doors at 9:01am...
In Nevada districts changed two days before the caucuses and that is pretty much what happened. Many were turned away.
What is the notice requirement? I'm just glancing at this so might not be looking in the right or only place but I'm seeing:'
http://www.mainegop.com/about-2/rules-and-by-laws/
What does the state law say about notice? I've rarely seen a notice requirement that was less than 3 days, but maybe it is allowed to be less if it is the same day as a statewide caucus.
I also see the municipality caucus can only be 'official' once recognized by the head of the state GOP, so what, if we did the same thing and signed municipalities up they could just say 'we are only going to recognize these over here' because we prefer their candidate? Or they 'see how the vote goes' and then decide whether to count it? What a parody of representation....
They added two more for tomorrow that were announced last night...
Maine's open meetings Act is terrible:
"Public notice shall be given for all public proceedings as defined in section 402, if these proceedings are a meeting of a body or agency consisting of 3 or more persons. This notice shall be given in ample time to allow public attendance and shall be disseminated in a manner reasonably calculated to notify the general public in the jurisdiction served by the body or agency concerned. In the event of an emergency meeting, local representatives of the media shall be notified of the meeting, whenever practical, the notification to include time and location, by the same or faster means used to notify the members of the agency conducting the public proceeding."
Me. Rev. Stat. tit. 1, § 406
The rule is incredibly flexible, and without further research into the cases interpreting this statute, I don't know what a court has held to be 'ample time' or what is a 'manner reasonably calculated' to notify the public. I'll do my best to look into this when I have the time. I've got some other pressing matters to attend to right now (unfortunately).
---Why would he not ask you if you were a Ron Paul supporter first?
---Why would he stare at the ground for an entire minute after he saw your car with bumper stickers? That seems odd
---How did he randomly look out the windows and right away see your brother car? I mean there must be dozens of cars there.
2 things are happening here:
1. The guy was fucking with your brother or trying to spread disinfo to get you all worried about this. If that was the case, it worked!
Or
2. Your brother is lying to you bro
Yeah, what time do these caucuses start? 9am? I bet they lock the doors at 9:01am...
Confirmation bias. Circumstantial evidence at best.
And anyway, can't we just win in the new places, also? If we can dominate everywhere else, surely we can win more delegates, or at least limit the number establishment delegates in the new caucuses.
The point is they set it up in areas where they know they can quickly get people to show up. We're left to scramble.
