Epic Penn Jillette Rant - "Even If You LOVE Obama, Here's Why You Shouldn't!"

I wish he would have cited some examples of "temporary" government programs, that would have pretty much rounded out the whole idea.

This is the lesson I learned from Bush as a more independent who hated him from the beginning. Bush wasn't the problem, he was a symptom of the problem, too much government power. I remember telling neocons during the bush years, what happens when Hilary has all these powers (thinking she was going to be next). I actually had one friends stop, and say "I never thought of that". It was pretty funny.

I always tell people. The problem is not the intent of the law...its the potential for future abuse of the law.

Now often the intent IS part of the problem, but the above statement sometimes gets people thinking.

It would be wonderful if his target audience spent an hour or 293847 in introspection after watching that clip, but, somehow, I'm not hopeful.

Great rant! I tried this line with Bushites to no avail. (Imaging a president Hillary Clinton with the power of the Patriot Act). I doubt it will work for Obamaheads. But maybe...just maybe if you showed this to a Bushite, and if you got the Bushite to agree that giving unlimited power to the presidency is a bad thing, then you flipped the script and said "maybe the power given to Bush wasn't good either"....maybe just maybe you might get through to somebody.
