Elon Musk buys Twitter for $44 billion

Twitter is censoring more under Musk than pre-Musk.

So much for free speech, just another elitist scam on the people sold to the people by the fake news media.

Does Twitter even offer a pension? Were all these perks lost listed in this thread in lieu of a pension or lower salary. I would be pissed to if the job was sold to me with all these perks and then they are all eliminated. Paying for employees lunch was a nice perk and they can afford it. Barely a drop in the bucket.

Musk's behavior with Twitter is setting the wrong precedent and it is going to spread. You will start to see perks eliminated elsewhere because now it is made popular by an elite promoted by the fake news media.

This is just like allot of the crap Mark Zdoucheaberg came up with like open offices which makes it difficult to get work done with all the noise. That idea spread across the country, not just tech.

What is with you always believing fake news? It isn't being removed from the platform. People aren't being banned. The specific tweets are just shadow banned. Freedom of speech, not freedom of reach. Seems pretty reasonable as long as it isn't being targeted for political reasons.

I find it humorous that people making $100K+ are whining about FREE LUNCH.

Fire the entitled lot of them,,some Gamer kids would love the job at half the pay.

So now Musk is having majority votes on whether others should have the freedom to listen to whom they want to, without feed manipulation, shadow bans and other deceptions.

Majority rules. It sounds like something right out of atlas shrugged, right before Galt left the motor company.

He could be doing another bot test. The Ukraine poll was before he took over and had access to the system.

Great ressponse from Alex!

It's going to take a while for Musk to get twitter under control and before we can see what he's going to do with it so the jury is still, imo.

Meanwhile, Musk puts up a poll asking if Trump should be allowed back (of course, he should be) and the poll is now under massive attack:

He's just trying to get users by drama.

You should have posted your -rep comment here, so I can respond.

Elon later tweeted that the user wouldn't be shadow banned, just the post.

If somebody is making certain derogatory posts, or posting pornography then I don't see a huge problem with that. If they are shadow banning posts that question the vaccine, for example, that is a problem. However in theory those should be handled with community notes, not shadow banning. That's a good system if we can also effectively fact check the left's nonsense and lies.

.

Yeah, so? I follow a user to read his posts. The user allows me to follow him so he can send me his posts. Elon bans it so unless I specifically go to the post - if I know it's direct link, I don't even see it - even though I'm following him to see all his posts.

This is completely immoral and evil, just like the quote the will of the majority should decide what everyone sees. Actually, I think the latin may be worse - "the will of the majority is god". It's the very same crap as before and the very worst of why people don't like twitter. Banning someone is direct and public, this is sneaky backstabbing stuff. A fake communication system with the users constantly being manipulated in what they are actually seeing.

I didn't post it publicly because I didn't want to seem to be calling you immoral, but yes, trying to hide information from me you don't want me to see is not even a free speech issue. it's mass deception of the readers and their choice to read.

Now, I'm going to put you on ignore. I've no tolerance for the shadow ban tactic. If you don't want to see something, don't read it or ignore the person. Trying to control what other people decide to read themselves is wrong. It would not be moral of me to make sure no one else can read your posts. I'm only choosing to ignore you for myself.

Is that how knit hat boy, that deviant Rogan or your boy Trump are selling it these days? So if someone says something that does not fit the current news cycle narrative that we are supposed to lap up and echo back to everyone here, then I am believing "fake news" and should be shadow banned? I guess I should I go back and watch your dopey shows ot watch a Trump rally before posting here so I can get the elites curated talking points in order to respout here. LOL.

I don't know the full details, but I think you would still see the post on your feed if you followed them, it just wouldn't get boosted to other people's feeds. For example, when you are on your feed and you see a post that says "Elon Musk follows this person" and it gets boosted to your feed. But we will see.

What if the content that is shadow banned is the same type of content that would be deleted with a temp or perma ban on this site?

Again the main point is that these posts aren't shadow banned due to politics, but derogatory speech (i.e. calling someone the 'n' word or using it in a derogatory way) or pornography or something. I wouldn't agree with shadow banning any political speech.

It also wouldn't be monetized, no ads appear.

If you want twitter to remain profitable and still allow all forms of political speech, there's going to have to be some mechanism to make advertisers comfortable with putting ads on the site.

Instead of getting mad at me, maybe try brainstorming a better way? I could easily jump on board.

This is similar to an idea Tim Pool had with how to deal with tweets that are legitimately against certain policies. Leave them up, just don't advertise them.
