Elise Jordan leaves Paul campaign

No politico trying to make news out of nothing.

She he is going to MSNBC not another campaign

Any idea if this is a big deal?

Not really, no.

But as I predicted on these forums earlier today, the media would be using Paul not making the debate as a major hit piece to try to end his campaign for real. And that linked article is evidence of that.

"The departure comes amid widespread consternation in Paul world that his presidential bid may be nearing an end."

Says you, politico...

Rand Paul’s sputtering presidential campaign has lost a top staffer: policy aide Elise Jordan.

Jordan, a former Bush White House and State Department aide who had been advising Paul on foreign policy, has left the campaign to take a job at NBC News and MSNBC as a political analyst.

“I think the world of Senator Paul and am so proud of how he changed the entire field's debate on criminal justice and foreign policy,” Jordan wrote in an email.

A Paul spokesman, Sergio Gor, did not respond to a request for comment.

The departure comes amid widespread consternation in Paul world that his presidential bid may be nearing an end. On Monday, it suffered a serious blow when it failed to qualify for the primetime Fox Business debate, to be held this Thursday. Rather than appear in the lesser-watched undercard, Paul announced that he would campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Jordan is the widow of Michael Hastings, the former "Rolling Stone" reporter whose 2010 profile of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, then the U.S. commander in Afghanistan, led to the general's resignation.

a non-person doing nothing notworthy.... I'm betting the campaign hasn't actually spoken to her in weeks or months.... Campaigns like this will often times bring people on board for credibility reasons, but don't actually have them doing anything useful. Given her background, that would be a good thing.

A non-person she's not. Her husband was an American hero who almost certainly got taken out for investigating our government.

Agreed.

That whole story about Hastings scared the shit out of me. He literally SAID he was going to be taken out and was scared of the government thugs... then POOF! He dies in a mysterious car crash/explosion... then the FBI lied about investigating him.... it's too much.

I didn't know his widow was on Rand's campaign. Interesting.

I don't believe he said that. Friends characterized him as increasingly anxious and paranoid. Shortly before he died he sent several people an email saying he thought he might be followed by the FEDS and they could expect a visit as well. He mentioned he was going into hiding. I don't think he said they were going to take him out. But they sure might have.

Nope. Elise Jordan said her husband's death was just a tragic accident and he was acting manic. Score his death.

It says something about a person's spouse when they can simply shrug their shoulders and say "he was acting crazy" and leave it at that considering the circumstances of his death. But hey, everybody else is selling their soul, right?

"they were saying the same thing in august prior to kentucky switching to caucus"

And it would have been the end had the state party committee not agreed to the switch. The Paul campaign has hit the edge many times but never gone over. We'll see how they react to this.

Which begs the question why they brought her on in the first place especially given her background? And if they paid her anything for her nothing, I and I'm sure a few other people will not be happy about it.

Maybe she's threatened too?
