I lost my local (county) race 49/51%.

Thanks for running, in any event. As I have said in the past, these days its no longer safe NOT to run for office, as your liberties shrink with each election year.

In my own case, I just received 25,100 votes as the LP candidate for Comptroller, the most statewide votes for a Libertarian in NY this year.

Yes and no. This was my first ever political race. The fact that I came within 2% of a two term, well liked incumbent in a formally heavily democratic county is a big deal. It's still a bummer because most of the Rs on the ticket rode the anti-dem/want change sentiment in this county to victory, but I came up short.

The GOP should've nominated Tancredo. He might've done better in Denver and Boulder with his support for legalizing marijuana.

Wouldn't have done well with the evangelical amen corner down in this county. Between those people and the Denver- Boulder idiots, sometimes I really hate this state.
