The European parliament is lining up Edward Snowden to give evidence by video link this month, in spite of resistance by British Conservatives, a Green MEP has announced.

Jan Philipp Albrecht, a German Green MEP, said parliamentarians wanted Snowden to appear before the assembly's committee on civil liberties, justice and home affairs (LIBE).

Albrecht said it would represent a great success for the parliament's investigation into mass surveillance of EU citizens.

He said: "Half a year after the first publications from his collection of numerous NSA documents, the truth of which has not so far been refuted, there are still consequences as far as political responsibility is concerned.

so much for EU being part of the NWO

A Green backbencher doesn't exactly represent the entire EU.

Anyhow, the EU, like Russia and China, is an emerging power and will gladly take an opportunity like this to attack the US. It doesn't really make the EU any less tyrannical. No doubt they have their own mass surveillance programs in place or are in the process of implementing one. This is like the Nazi propaganda poster that attacked the US's treatment of blacks in the 40s. Sure, what was going on in the US was terrible, but that didn't change anything about what the Nazis were doing.

Keep swinging that sledgehammer, slowly but surely. Make every strike count.

Much as I would like to believe in all of this I cannot commit to it. If that which Snowden possesses was truly critical, vis-a-vis merely inconvenient, he would never have gotten his hands on it in the first place, but assuming by some freak occurrence he did, he would be long dead. Does anyone here really believe that he cannot be eliminated in Russia? There are several broad avenues of redress open to those with the instruments and other resources at hand. Large car bombs come to mind. You can always find a zealot willing to sacrifice his life for the cause if the need is properly articulated. Load up a truck with 3 tons of TNT and Snowden's removal from the roles of the living is a piece of cake.

No, what he has is either pablum meant to be spoon fed to the mob, or are merely inconvenient disclosures. Nobody with with the sorts of investments Theye have made is going to sit helplessly back as potentially centuries worth of work is laid waste. Never happen.

Snowden is either a controlled asset or a rogue with nothing of monumental significance. If the latter, it does not mean Theye do not want his hide pinned to the barn door, mind you. Theye may be very pissed about this because of the precedent it sets to the eyes of others, especially the bit about retribution. But it may not be worth getting at any price and so Theye bide their time. One day Snowden will have been forgotten. That may be years down the road. But there may come a day when he will perhaps be walking and passes a stranger on the streets of Moscow. The stranger may even have a kind face, perhaps even a smile. And death will come swiftly and that will be the end of it, the message to the rest of the world being that We do not forget, nor forgive, and no matter how long it takes We exact our pound of flesh. It is all part of the campaign of low-intensity terror that has been waged for many decades by this modern instrument of subjugation.

If anyone has any alternative ideas about this parliament thing, I would be most interested in reading about them.

That's a fairly large bone to chew on. It may well be he already revealed all he had of significance, I guess time will tell. And taking out Snowden wouldn't stop the release of any information, but would serve as a warning to any future Snowdens.

The EU is an tyrannical state just ask the Greeks, Italians.

What am I missing here? Why does Snowden have to testify before the British parliament? Why not just broadcast the information to the world? Why the pageantry?

Something here smells a wee bit turned.

Snowden agreed to not damage the US further as a condition of his being able to stay in Russia. Going on TV and revealing more would violate that. Answering questions under oath for a foreign government would not.

This would be awesome. I just have a difficult time believing that it will transpire as they say. Although I still have hope for these issues or I wouldn't be engaging in forums and discussion on these matters.

Please throw us a bone here lord.

I see - so I was indeed missing something. The Russians stepping in to protect the USA? Not terribly surprising if one proceeds under the assumption that these entities are all in bed beneath the thin sheets of political theater.

This raises yet another question: does such a condition not torpedo the value of the remaining and as-yet unplayed cards Snowden holds? Perhaps he has little left - I guess we will never know.

Perhaps he ought to have gone to Brazil.

I would imagine that the Brits will keep it all very hush-hush. The Brits really suck.
