Easy way to accept Bitcoins

Very cool.

The problem with bitcoin is that it is reliant on functioning electricity - which we take for granted. That's my only beef. Outside of that, it's value should actually outperform the USD. lol.

I love how a plan fiat currency isn't enough... We need a virtual monies to make a point.

The price will likely fluctuate quite a bit until it reaches the point where it is a large enough economy where goods are traded solely in Bitcoins, giving it a recognizable value.

But it is very useful as a tool of simple exchange including exchanging between currencies and across the world.

And with this technology there is no longer a need to carry cash or credit cards which can be stolen.

I can't imagine the world will ever go back to no electricity, in fact with recent discoveries in nano technology and the upcoming developments of the first nuclear fusion reactor I imagine in 20 to 40 years from now will all laugh at the idea of energy dependence.

If you would prefer, they also have physical Bitcoins:

What if a solar flare occurs?

Don't get me wrong...I think technologies will continue to progress etc etc....but you never know. Shit happens.

Not so easy with later iterations. The latest Bitcoin client has the option to encrypt your wallet with just a click.

The new software coming out will allow for dual authentication allowing you to require two sources of verification before the transfer takes place allowing for things such as cell phone text verification or e-mail verification. Along with many other things that are not currently possible with normal money.

bit-pay is currently at CES demonstrating the Bitcoin technology they have come up with spreading the word to many geeks who will eat it up.

It's funny how people expect this technology to already have all the features they think it should have when in reality it's brand new and just got started. As if the internet was safe from hacking the moment it got invented, I mean, it's very difficult to be secure even today.. But people still use it.

I say give it time to develop cause as long as the foundational technology is sound the layers above can be invented to be just as sound like they already are. The first client's wallet was completely unsafe, and like Elwar said, now it's encrypted, adding to security. The first exchanges were very basic and very vulnerable, now they beefed up their security with various technologies making them a lot safer. And it goes on and on..

That's like asking "What if the Earth blows up?".. I don't even care about these minuscule chances of bad outcomes and if they do happen I think we'll have bigger problems than Bitcoins being dependent on electricity.

You mean how it easy it is to hack your computer? It's mathematically virtually impossible to hack Bitcoin the system itself..
