Multi-Level Marketing business model.. In most instances, it's basically a sham of a business that has high prices and screws people (who become "part-owners) over by allowing them to think they will get rich (and they end up doing the leg work for the company--the marketing/sales) while the people at the top of this company make all the money.
With that said, I only watched this youtube video, and I have no idea how anyone could already determine the business model of Knarf's "thing" (for lack of a better term with limited info
); there was basically no information given besides "copper for silver and gold."

MLM == Multi-Level Marketing
Basically, pyramiding. I consider them to be something smelling like scams, but not quite there. Prices tend to be outrageous in some cases and the way to make money is to get people under you so you can get residuals from their work. As I wrote, not quite a bald-faced scam, but smelling a bit like it. OTOH, if you get in early you can make huge money. It's the people who come to the game late that take it in the neck usually, but there can be exceptions there as well. Most of the MLM ventures tend to go nowhere in the long run, but some fly - like USANA and Amway. IMO the value is dependent on one's personality - what you like, how you work, etc. It is not for everyone.

I agree with what you said. The MLMs are not exactly a scam but close to it. Also, there are some people who actually do become successful with them, usually the people who get in first like you said. They are not for everyone, just a limited few in the appropriate situation and location.
