Hey guys, first time poster (long time... umm... lurker?). Anways this morning my hometown newspaper The Duluth News Tribune ran my 2nd Dr. Paul editorial (1st ran w/ 2007 Election Results) Today's was the very first on the page on the very first day of 2008. Below is a link (which will be outdated as of tomorrow morning) and the text that they went with. I've gotten a few emails and calls about it so far, so people are definitely reading it. Today the paper is delivered to everyone who subscribes as a sort of "bonus issue."

Ron Paul ready to resurrect the Constitution

There’s an ongoing American revolution on the streets of every town and the cities of every state. Americans are tired of failing currency, a poor economy, big government running our personal lives, open borders, growing insecurities and just about everything and anything having to do with politics as usual. If you haven’t seen it yet, then you may be in for a surprise in the coming weeks.

Congressman Dr. Ron Paul, a 10-term member of the House, is seeking the GOP nomination for president in 2008. If there were a candidate in this race that would receive the endorsements of Ben Franklin, James Madison, or Thomas Jefferson, he would be their choice. I don’t say that arrogantly either. Paul runs on their platform — the U.S. Constitution.

Ron Paul has, so far, raised $18 million this quarter from individual donors and families — not a single lobbyist, corporation, or special interest group has contributed (nor will they). That includes $6 million raised in a 24-hour period — that’s more than any candidate ever. That includes more active military personnel than any other 2008 candidate.

He is currently on track to raise more than any of his GOP competitors this quarter. Talk about a revolution, huh?

Paul loves his country more than he loves himself. I urge anyone who still hasn’t to listen to his message — it is the only one of freedom in 2008. Any who are disillusioned by modern politicians are encouraged to join the growing revolution. Paul is a man of genuine integrity and the answer to the problems that have plagued our country in the past few decades. To the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free: there’s hope for America — be a part of it.

Feel free to reuse any part of this is a letter to the editor of your own paper. Ron does not have much name recognition in Duluth (yet) and our MeetUp keeps working to promote him.

Now THAT'S a positive contribution from a newbie!

We could use about 1,000,000 more letters to the editor as thoughtful and well-reasoned as that.

Way to GO!

nice work. Ice-fishermen for Ron Paul!

Edit: ask the paper to consider endorsing Ron

For some reason, your post and your editorial are, for me, the most inspirational thing I've seen out here in a while. Maybe it's just a reminder that this whole thing just comes down to individual grassroots effort centered around the crystal clear Paul message.

With all the noise and conflict inevitable on a site like this (which is no slam on the site - just part of the "messiness" that goes with lots of different people trying to work together), this was a welcome clear note of optimism, effort, and results.

Thanks. I needed that!

+2 from a former northwestern Minnesotan, now Arizona. It's warmer here.:p

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate them, but the credit goes to the man the editorial is about. I remember that fateful night when I was busy watching The Colbert Report and heard that tonight's guest was Dr. Ron Paul. I remember turning up the volume, because I had heard hype, but hadn't cared to listen. Jaw dropped to the floor he sputtered the words that my high-school Economics teacher had taught us so many years before (the one who got me into politics). I have unwavering faith that this election is about to turn on it's head and our fellow disbelievers will be eating their words.

This is a copy of what ran a few months ago (not the final draft). I plan on having one every 30 days (as the paper allows). The Duluth News Tribune runs all over North Eastern MN and North Western WI. Considering MN is a swing state this year I hope he'll get a lot of attention and soon, no better way than to pressure the paper with the news that they missed.

Who Is Ron Paul?

The 2008 Presidential election is over a year away and the mayoral race in Duluth is in its prime, so why would anyone dare to look at national elections this early? With under 100 days until the primaries in Iowa, New Hampshire, and various other early states – party nominations matter now, not later. Getting involved this early is certainly important.

10-term Congressman from Texas Ron Paul, is currently seeking the GOP nomination for 2008. So, who is Ron Paul? Some remember Dr. Paul as the 1988 Libertarian-nominated candidate for President. Some may remember his active voice against the war in Iraq or against the PATRIOT act. His voting record of never raising taxes or even taking a paid political junket speaks clearly. His colleagues refer to him as the “taxpayer’s best friend,” “a modern Tomas Jefferson,” and “the champion of the Constitution.” Ron is the man on stage during debates who doesn’t seek lawyers’ approval to invade Iran – he simply consults the law of the land, the Constitution.

Dr. Paul, as of October 2007, has raised more money from U.S. troops than any other potential candidate for president. He is one of the very few candidates with military experience, serving five years in the Air Force. He has currently won more straw polls than any other GOP candidate. And most importantly when he asked his supporters to raise $500,000 for him in the last week of third quarter fundraising – they raised nearly $1.2 million.

As a man of genuine integrity, a believer in freedom and free markets, and strict Constitutional follower, he is a rarity among politicians. I cast my ballot early for Dr. Ron Paul and would encourage anyone who can to “google” Ron Paul (or visit ronpaul2008.com) and discover for themselves what America is desperately seeking.

Obviously, it's a bit dated, but again feel free to use any portion of the letter for your own purpose.

Very well written. I also had a letter printed in the Duluth News Tribune about Ron Paul. I'm not sure if I can find the link but if I do I'll repost it.
