Drummers...............

If you can appreciate this, then you have truly reached enlightenment.

Listen to the first 2:00 of this one with the full intro, then skip to the beginning of the second one for better quality:

"Think for yourself. Question authority."

Alive or dead?

Danny Carey for sure. Handling weird time signatures with no effort and keeping rock solid while doing it is always the mark of great drummer.

I'll throw a few out who I think are at the top of the list of those alive, leaving the departed for some other time, cuz we know all those guys.

Stewart Copeland of The Police.

John Dolmayan of System of a Down - Who is also enmeshed in controversy right now for daring to say he supports Trump, which he says got him kicked out of the band.

Gotta give a shout out to Rick Allen of Def Lepard who learned everything all over again with one arm after losing his left arm in a car crash.

Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater and a whole mess of other bands.

Another great one, listen to him just switch times effortlessly and still stay right in the pocket, while delivering insane fills, triplets, double footpedaling and ghost notes galor.

And I can't keep 4/4 time banging on a bucket...there is no God.

Bryan Mantia of Primus in their heyday in the mid 90s.

Keeping up with Les Claypool is a full time job in itself.

one of the best...

That was some really good drumming.

If you think that is good, listen to some of the guys who have passed away, I left them off the list on purpose.

Here's some good examples to start with: Gene Krupa, Ginger Baker, Joe Morello, Kieth Moon, Buddy Rich, Neal Peart, Tony Williams...and who I regard as the very best, not only in rock but across the spectrum in drumming talent: John Bonham.

Danny is a good one...

That's pretty funny. I had never heard of this guy as a drummer or this band. And have not seen him mentioned anywhere else. But apparently everyone here knows who he is. He's my parent's next door neighbor. I just shrugged it off when they said he was famous. Just assumed he was in some no name band.

You've never heard this song??

You MUST hear this song.. listen to the lyrics (talking mad shit on L.A. "LEARN TO SWIM, SEE YOU DOWN IN ARIZONA BAY.." - not a global warming reference, either)

Definitely my favorite hard rock band for the last 22 years..
