Drudge Trying to make it a two man race for Iowa and New Hampshire

Ron Paul is not a Republican. Maybe he once was but the party has moved on from him. They are all about big government, big subsidies, big military budgets. Horrible on civil liberties. Correction: Ron Paul is not a Republocrat. I just realized Democrats support all those things as well.

Actually, Ron Paul is a Republican. As in a Republican form of government. As in Robert Taft. In fact, he's the only Republican in the race.

Won't Santorum be a damn hard sell in New Hampshire? Huckabee did poorly there after his Iowa victory, only pulling 11%, and Santorum is even less likable, not to mention his campaign is weaker than Huckabee's. We really need a second place finish there. I don't think Gingrich will be a problem for us in NH cause he headed further down in the polls there. Here is the thing though: is the media going to try to push Huntsman in NH like they did for Santorum in Iowa in order to try to knock us off 2nd place? Can they make two candidates surge at once?

Then somebody needs to tell the Republicans that because he only got 14% of the Republican vote in Iowa, he had to rely on Independents to rise to 22% total.

If you do a blind taste test based on principles and policies alone, as worded in the most vanilla generic terms possible, I believe he would get a vast majority of Republican voters. It's when you take the blindfold off that things fall apart. That's the media influence.

The Republican establishment is all about big government. The average GOP voter is not. There is still a remnant of conservatism within the party's elected officials, and Paul is the leader of that movement within the party. It has been like this for many years going all the way back to the days when Robert Taft championed limited government conservatism, and other elements within the party called for a more progressive approach. Nothing has changed really. Paul just needs to continue to be the Taft, the Goldwater and the Reagan of the party.

It's media influence, coupled with the "beauty contest" aspect of politics. Reagan is a great example of this. He was an incredible communicator, projected a very positive vision and people loved him because of that.

Paul needs to start projecting more of an image of a wise older man, rather than a cranky older man. I think the recent TV ads have been doing this, but he needs to portray that image more in interviews and debates.

Well said! That is exactly what I have been thinking but couldn't articulate it quite like that. Your take on it is so true. :)

they can easily use an escalation in the middle east to put pressure on us. They will do whatever necessary to shut us down....we have to fight harder than ever.

This. I'm getting really worried about them being desperate and "needing" something like this to happen, it would be just too perfect.

Santorum hasn't been vetted. He had 4% in New Hampshire in a poll yesterday. He WILL be up in the next one, but if vetted, isn't going far in NH.
