if for no other reason than to make O'Reilly eat his words we really need a win.

O'Reily said that Ron won't win one primary, he did not mention a caucus. Just sayin...

Ron Paul will win it all in the end. This race is nothing like we have seen before.

I don't mean to be a downer

Yea, the screen name says it all :P

Endorsements can get people to take a second look at Ron, and influence certain people who might otherwise believe him to be "unelectable". However, I do agree that their value directly correlates with the amount of exposure they receive from the media. Maybe the "be nice to Paul or he'll run 3rd party" attitude will get Ron some coverage.

Yep. Until after it was over and then they wanted to interview Tom Davis. I suspect these endorsements will be treated the same way.

I agree with that on the national level. But on the local side I believe it will be on all the networks there and papers just like Ron Paul's first day of campaigning there was all over their local news.

Think I could get O'Reilly to make a $10,000 bet on Virginia's PRIMARY....?

If it is LePage, would love to see an ad similar to this run in Maine.

I don't mean to be a downer because I would rather get them than for them to go to other people...

But, one thing that has been steady throughout this campaign cycle...ENDORSEMENTS DON'T MATTER!

Whether they come from talk show hosts, state reps, congressmen/women, senators, or even Gov.'s of states....it just doesn't seem to matter. No one seems to really give a hoot.

Just my two cents...

They don't directly get you votes - but they do bring you in from the "unelectable fringe". It gets a lot harder and much more blatantly disingenuous to call someone unelectable when Senators and Governors are endorsing them.

This.

I agree. Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina, endorsed Romney, and he seemed unstoppable in that state for a while. But all of a sudden, Fig Newton gets his surge and wins SC.

So, I'd be weary of Governor endorsements. That doesn't mean I won't get excited; however, I'd also be weary.

Its better than zero endorsements

Instead of relying on the media, the campaign could run ads with the actual endorsement. Even make it kind of look like a news report/update.

Romney did this with mailers. He mailed a flyer that had all his NH endorsements on it.

The following numbers are loose and not doublechecked, someone please correct me if you have the time...

I was looking at some numbers and reports the other day (for a different purpose) and IINM there were about 8000 votes in the 2008 caucus and 130,000 votes in the 2010 caucus. This is a VERY big jump.

One of the reasons for the increased turnout was the 2010 Governors race between 5 candidates. In that race LePage won with ~30% of the vote. IOW he brought out ~40,000 voters to the caucuses

Food for thought...
