Though I was talking to Thomas Woods tonight, and brought this up. He brought up that the media would do nothing, but bring up the child issue she had at the LP Convention last year. Granted, but by 2012 the Economy will be worse than 1933, making it a moot point in my opinion. THE DOCTORS!

I'm not aware of the issue, but the media is going to do what they do. The newsletters will be coming back as well.

Granted, but by 2012 the Economy will be worse than 1933, making it a moot point in my opinion. THE DOCTORS!

who said anything about him winning a primary if the gop doesn't shape up soon. will the gop even have a viable option in 2012. my vote thinks not.
win or not. it would send a loud and clear message to the failed gop. I would gladly put the same amount of time and energy or more into a Paul/Ruwart Ticket. Win Lose or educate, not one of us knows the answer until the votes are counted in 2012, alot could happen by 2012 and to be honest most voters are not looking to the gop as an answer to the solutions.

I am in total debt but i would find someway to donate 500 if that ticket happens. it is not like the gop is even considering options close to Ron Paul's platform.

I'd donate twice as much to a Paul/Ruwart ticket as I would to Paul/(insert unprincipled candidate here). The ticket would go somewhere because we'd make it go somewhere, just like we did in '08!

Why can't children of age make consensual decisions. For instance, kids have sex at 12 years of age now and can actually get thrown in jail! How is that morally defensible? Do kids not have liberty and freedom? Secondly, I have no problem if two kids choose to have consensual sex and sell it. It's their body, unless you believe it's not until they are 18 or whatever the emancipation age is.

What do you consider an appropriate age for children to make coherent decisions? I generally believe that is between 12 and 13. In Roman times adulthood was age 14, and in many cultures it's even younger at 12.

I don't see what's so controversial in the first place. You do believe that my body is my private property, regardless of age correct? Besides it's not like Child Porn doesn't happen now! Let's just keep it underground and criminal, that solves everything just like Drugs, Finance, Drunk Driving, etc.

Now, would I ever watch something I find vile? No, but doesn't mean I can tell what another person can do with his or her body.

PS: I remember when I was 14 working 35 hours a week and was far more mature than most 25 year olds. It's stupid to have a hegomonic rule on level of maturity and at what age that kicks in.

Dr. Mary Ruwart reiterated her position on child pornography during a two-part Presidential Candidate Forum at the Indiana Libertarian State Convention April 26. Each candidate was given one minute to respond to each question. Candidates also had three minutes for a closing statement at either the afternoon or evening session.

"Children forced to participate in sexual acts have the same rights and recourse as any rape victim," Dr. Ruwart said in response to a question on child pornography during the afternoon session. "We can, and should, prosecute their oppressors.

"But bans on child pornography are like bans on drugs and prostitution. They don't work. They only make a bad situation worse. We've driven the child pornography market underground, where profits soar and criminals abound. That's why thousands of children are kidnapped each year and forced into sexual slavery.

"In states where prostitution has been banned, prostitutes have no recourse if they are exploited or abused. In Nevada, where prostitution is legal, exploitation and abuse are limited.

"We can limit abuse of children in the child pornography trade by ending its prohibition. We can't end child pornography any more than we can end prostitution, gambling, or drug use. Utopia is not an option, but liberty does make a bad situation a bit better."

Like I said earlier by 2012 that will be a non-issue. We will be in the midst of the worst economic collapse America has ever been in. The only issues the people of America will care about are: #1 Economy #2 Overseas intervention / Afghan/Iraq

All other issues will be moot.

What about the LP?
Is anyone here at RPFs suggesting "we" get more involved with the LP? The movement is big enough to have a lasting effect there.

I believe we should and I'm doing all I can. I applaud the RLC, but we're going to need more than two parties, but what the goal of the RLC should be on the local level is repealing ballot acces, debate, etc. laws to make it easier for third parties to have access. Besides that is ancillary to the issue. Is there anything in the GOP by-laws that states that the GOP VP candidate must be a GOP member? If so, what other GOP member is a decent VP candidate? Remember, Ron Paul is going to be a target if he wins. I fear for his life. The VP candidate on a Ron Paul ticket will be VERY IMPORTANT. If I could I'd take a bullet for him in a heart-beat. We are in this to the death.

I think you are forgetting how the media and debates work. The media will talk about what they find interesting or whatever they are pressured to talk about, regardless of it's significance in society. I hope things change, but I just expect the media to find new "interesting" things to talk about to distract us. And besides, if the media doesn't talk about how the prices of essential items are shooting up (which they will likely be doing right around time for next election), how will the people know what's going on? most will probably just accept it and blissfully continue to live ignorance.

As much as I want to believe the tipping point for the American people is soon, I'm not seeing it. The tipping point for Americans getting fed up may be near or here, but it is still far from the tipping point for pushing Americans to educate themselves properly and learn how to change the country the right way
