Don't Phone From Home!!!! [mod: not from campaign]

I just got screamed at by some guy who says I'm the third volunteer to call his cell phone and that the last one said he was selecting Do Not Call. Claimed he's not going to go to the caucus, etc.

Is it possible there's someone sabotaging us by using the system and intentionally clicking the wrong things, etc? I mean the program seems to let anybody sign up to make calls...

PLEASE STOP CALLING. This could really hurt if this continues to go on.

Nice try trolls on key day...

If this was true the campaign would just re-route calls to NH.

Well, at least it's nice to know we've got that kind of horsepower -- it'll serve us well in SC and FL, where there are way more people than we could call.

Does anyone have any inside information on the system or know how the "do not call" functionality works? I'm a bit horrified at what seems to be happening, given that a wisely designed system would ensure that each person is called once and ONLY once.

It kind of reminds me of the daily emails from John Tate asking for donations (to the campaign more recently, and to the CFL less recently), because I always grit my teeth and think, "If I weren't dead set on Ron Paul, this would really turn me off." My mom has donated in the past at my request, and she receives the nagging emails just as frequently. She likes RP because of who he is and how he's been treated, and I think a lot of it is faith in my judgment too...but she's a much more casual supporter than anyone on these boards, and she's probably more representative of the average Ron Paul voter than any of us are.

If the phone system is designed to be as inconsiderate as the email nagging, this could really backfire. I'm not sure if anyone would be able to code a working update in time and hotfix the running system, and it would be risky as well...but either way, the campaign needs to know. Hopefully any damage the system does today will be minimal, and it will be fixed in time for the larger states.

In general, I agree with this sentiment. You're true supporters won't be turned off by too much contact, and you are likely to see net benefit amongst soft supporters, some of whom will be turned off, but more of whome will be convinced and informed on where to go.

That said, I clearly remember the orange-hatted fools of 8 years ago, and how annoying the population may well have cost Dean the caucuses. I would hate to be witnessing a reapeat of that debacle.

i think dean's crowd really screwed up by getting drunk and belligerent in Iowa. Not from too many calls.

no, no. The campaign has people calling for a reason. There will be some people that are mad. Look, i was in Iowa making calls for nearly a week and I can tell you first hand that you have to get some thick skin to do this. The campaign has made the choice to have PFH make calls because they have deemed that the pro's outweigh the cons. There is no accident in this.

you have to have thick skin. Just keep calling. The campaign is doing what it is doing for a reason. There is no accident.
