Don't let Ron Paul fail to get on the Pennsylvania ballot

In PA, the primary votes for Ron Paul won't get him any delegates. It is just a straw poll or what some called "beauty contest". The results may help him get some media attention, but no delegates. Delegates who win the vote counts for their precinct in the primary is more important. So if you are from PA, please vote for the delegate candidates who you know will represent Ron Paul at the Tampa convention. The best way to find out these candidates is join the local meetup or talk with other local Ron Paul supporters within your precinct to find out who they are and vote for them this primary.

This is correct. But what I'm running into is that I'm in a huge district, encompassing several medium sized "cities" and a huge rural chunk. My understanding is that the campaign "chose" 3 delegates in each district. That's fine, but the order they appear on the ballot is a lottery, so in such a huge area, unless they really get their names out there, if they aren't the top 3 spots, it probably won't fly. That's why in PA the more delegates you have running the better chances you have of getting 3 (my disctrict is) total. I understand from talking with others that people were discouraged to run for delegates by the "chosen" ones.

Yes the campaign made the decision to only support 3 candidates per district for delegate and alternate. They were advised to support more, and have those who place low on the ballot to drop out. But the campaign didn't think we had the resources to do it. In a lot of cases they were probably right.

Wow, this and many threads like it are just chock full of disinformation.

The campaign itself hired petitioners to get signatures for RP to get on the ballot. They told the various district delegate teams not to worry too much, but to get signatures when they could if it wasn't too big a problem. Now they saw that some of the signatures the paid petitioners got were not very good quality. They probably have enough, but now they just want as many as they can get for padding to avoid challenges.

Until you hear a count from someone in the campaign, do not believe a word of what anyone on here says they thought they heard. Hearsay is the biggest problem on this forum.

Edit: Thank you brandon for being a voice of reason.

That was their choice. I don't necessarily agree, but it is what it is. I didn't pursue being a delegate because of their decision, they selected 3 people in my CD and I just let it be, hopefully it works out.

So what exactly is the disinformation? That RP doesn't have enough sigs, or that people were dissuaded from becoming delegates, because I know for certain the latter is true.

In '08 there were 11 delegate candidates in my district. The RP delegates drew spots 4, 8 and 10 on the ballot. None of them got in.

I don't think there will be a signature problem for Ron. Figure that most people collected signatures for Ron at the same time as they did for themselves as a delegate. Hopefully that's 6 or 700 per CD. You're right about the delegates though. Hopefully it works out.

Maybe they have a GOTV strategy for RP delegates? Realistically if the situation in this election doesn't improve by the time we vote here, PA delegates aren't going to matter a whole lot unfortunately.

Calm down, it's been going on for 3 weeks. The campaign already has all the voter lists and have distributed them to the district coordinators weeks ago. If you're not in PA just relax and know there's a lot of people working really hard on this today, and they have been for several weeks.

Is it possible that the current signature total is ALOT HIGHER than the 600 or so speculated?

I'll add my two cents here. It's really difficult in a District that is as large as ours to win on the ballot. We are the third largest district in PA. The heavy hitters run. The party insiders, state reps. etc. Name recognition is a big factor. We did have one delegate come in 5th of of the 11 and one did win an alternate. Where we worked the polls and handed out our delegate cards we did well overall.
As far as sigs to get Ron on the ballot. I received the same info that Brandon posted. Not to worry about it the campaign had it covered. We wanted to collect sigs for him while collecting for our delegates.

I have confirmation from my group leader, who is working with the campaign, that we are indeed short on signatures for Ron Paul.

im in pa, i will sign all of my estate to ron paul

I live in York City Pa

Confirmed from CD14 coordinator: we are short by "A LITTLE."
Which should NOT cause panic: Just gather signatures.

Hmmm I thought we had all the states covered. How come the campaign isnt asking for people to get signatures in Pennsylvania? What is going on? This is serious >.<

The media would eat us alive if Paul couldn't get on the ballot in the state he was born in. Come on guys...get on the ball over there...
