Don't get too whipped up over Ron Paul

Ditto

There isn't the 'world' where we support Ron Paul and the 'world' where we support our family. And one takes from the other. Helping in this campaign helps my family as well. It shows the people around you that you care. It shows your children that you care.

"Transcend dualistic comprehension of the situation."-Bruce Lee

What is most hopeful to me is the way a post like the one that started this thread gets stomped into oblivion. :D

Couldn't have said it better myself. And as far as spending time with family, there are individuals in my family to which the above quote greatly applies to. My allegiance is to Liberty and the people who support it ARE my family. Blood ties mean nothing to me if someone is working to my detriment. It personally offends me and I consider it a slap in the face.

To me, this is our last hope at preserving our liberty and sovereignty as a nation of people. I have three grown children, one grandson and one on the way. This is about them. If I had just 6 months to live, I would spend it doing what I believe in.
Freedom and promoting it. Ron Paul is our last chance folks. If I spend 2/3 of my waking hours working on the campaign, I am spending the other 1/3 preparing food water, ammo, and a secure place to go if he doesn't win the election.
It doesn't matter which of the other candidates from either of the major parties gets elected in RPs stead. They will continue to throw our weight around the world inciting more hatred of America and her people which will require more and more interventions until we're in an all out war, which will require a draft. Then my son or one of my grandsons will have to risk their life for some war that has no legitimat value relative to our national defense but for the globalists and militarists quest for as Thomas Paine said it in Common Sense, "for the sake of trade and dominion".
And whether we get involved in another all out war against China, Russia, N Korea, Iran or any combination of them, the emergence of the authoritarian police state will remain with any of the other candidates insuring that my offspring will not grow up free. Along with that they will be forever, their entire lives shouldered with a debt and the slavery of indebetness with minimal property rights, minimal personal liberty and a world full of seething hatred for them because of the failed policies fo the crooked politicians who inserted themselves through deception, greed and a lust for power.

My last breath will be expended in fighting that. If I am willing to right now this day, ready and willing to stand in the way of an assines bullet to protect Congressman or president Ron Paul, then six months of service is nothing.

"When a person places the proper value on freedom, there is nothing under the sun that he will not do to acquire that freedom. Whenever you hear a man saying he wants freedom, but in the next breath he is going to tell you what he won't do to get it, or what he doesn't believe in doing in order to get it, he doesn't believe in freedom. A man who believes in freedom will do anything under the sun to acquire...or preserve his freedom."

"If you're not ready to die for it, put the word 'freedom' out of your vocabulary."

"A ballot is like a bullet. You don't throw your ballots until you see a target, and if that target is not in reach, keep your ballot in your pocket."

"Look at yourselves. Some of you teenagers, students. How do you think I feel and I belong to a generation ahead of you - how do you think I feel to have to tell you, 'We, my generation, sat around like a knot on a wall while the whole world was fighting for its hum an rights - and you've got to be born into a society where you still have that same fight.' What did we do, who preceded you ? I'll tell you what we did. Nothing. And don't you make the same mistake we made...."

-Malcolm X

I cherry picked these quotes cuz they were relevant. I know Malcolm is controversial (as opposed to MLK whom RP often references) but I happen to like the above quotes.

FREEDOM is the opportunity to live your life as you want to live it.
The urge for freedom is so much a part of human nature that it can never be suppressed by laws, slogans, or commandments. There is a difference, however, between the urge and the reality. For most people, freedom remains a pleasant fantasy—something to dream of while carrying out daily obligations in the real world.
They spend their lives talking vaguely of what they want in life, what they think they're missing, why they don't have it, and who it is that prevents them from being free.
For most people, freedom is an "if only." "If only it hadn't been for my wife, I would have been a success." Or "If only it hadn't been for Roosevelt (or Nixon or whomever), the country would be free."
The unfree person can never fully repress his urge for freedom—whether he considers his jailer to be his family, his job, society, or the government. And so, from time to time, halfhearted attempts are made to break free from the restrictions.
But unfortunately, those attempts usually depend upon the individual's ability to change the minds of other people—and so optimism ultimately turns into frustration and despair.
Hoping to be free, many people engage in continual social combat—joining movements, urging political action, writing letters to editors and Congressmen, trying to educate people. They hope that someday it will all prove to have been worthwhile.
But as the years go by they see little overall change. Small victories are won; defeats set them back. The world seems to continue on its path to wherever it's going. Until they die, the hopeful remain just as enslaved as they've always been.

The plans, the movements, the crusades—none of these things has worked. And so the unfree man continues to dream, to condemn, and to remain where he is.
There must be a better way.
There must be a way to be free without having to wish for a miracle. It must be a way by which an individual can change things without having to rally the rest of the world to his side.
It has to be a way through which he can get rid of exorbitant taxes, have the time to do what he wants to do, enjoy love without tiresome complications, remove irritating social restrictions, and free himself from the hundred and one burdens that others daily hand him.
And it must be a way that doesn't require that he re-educate all of the other people involved.
Fortunately, there is such a way.
It isn't necessary to join a massive campaign to reconstruct the society in which you live, nor do you have to patiently re-educate everyone you deal with.
There's a way that depends entirely upon what you choose to do. You can be free without changing the world. You can live your life as you want to live it—no matter what others decide to do with their lives.

"How I found freedom in an unfree World"

Just think if you found out that you had 5 years left to live? How would you look back at all this time being spent on Ron Paul getting elected?

I would look back with regret if I didn't do all I could to do to spread this message and get him elected. :)

When you think you have done enough - do just a little bit more.

It's a good thing our Founding Fathers never said, "eh, why fight England, we'll never win. Let's just go home to our families and eat turkey while we are being taxed unfairly. It's not worth the blood or effort."

Great philosophy woowoowo22.

I see this attitude all over the place, and I hate it. I'm not trying to sound harsh, but it's because of people with this attitude that we have to work so hard! Unfortunately, my Dad (the person who introduced me to Ron Paul) has a watered down version of it.

Our country simply isn't the same country it was when it was founded. It's only going to get worse if Ron Paul isn't elected. So bad, in fact, that I might have to move somewhere else. If our founding fathers heard of what is going on, they would turn in their graves. For me, that's motivation enough to work as hard as I possibly can.

Looking at it objectively - Ron Paul is unlikely to win. The primary reason has nothing to do with the media - it is the people. Socialism is to blame. Too many on the dole in some way, and too few fitting the bill.

Yes spending time with your family is the most important thing. But as someone said before me, get your family involved with you! My husand (qednick) and I got our 14 year old involved and she loves spending time with us campaigning for Dr. Paul.:)

It's things like this that bring a campaign down! If you stand behind Ron Paul, then stand behind him and stop thinking negatively! People do have the power to change the way things are if they have the desire.

Those of you who say "I like Ron Paul but he'll never get the nomination" are part of the problem! If you like Ron Paul then support him! The more supporters he has, the more votes he'll get and the more chance he has of getting the nomination! HE CAN WIN if you help him! Don't just say, "I like him but...." make sure it happens! Prove to yourselves and others that money is not the deciding factor in the elections, the people's votes are! That's what this country is all about or at least it's supposed to be. A Democracy that means we have the right to put into office whomever we want, and we DO have the power to do it! You've just got to make your decision, do you support Ron Paul or are you going to sit on your butt like a slug and let one of the other socialist, lying, CFR members take it away from him???? Huh?? I SUPPORT RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT AND AM DOING SOMETHING ABOUT IT, HOW ABOUT YOU????????

Woo woo now supports Giuliani, so it seems clear that he's been trying from the start to subvert Ron Paul support. This thread seems like a good example of that, with him telling us not to be so passionate.

Damn, you beat me to that one. How about this one:

"One of the Just Men came to Sodom, determined to save its inhabitants from sin and punishment. Night and day he walked the streets and markets protesting against greed and theft, falsehood and indifference. In the beginning, people listened and smiled ironically. Then they stopped listening; he no longer even amused them. The killers went on killing, the wise kept silent, as if there were no Just Man in their midst.

"One day a child, moved by compassion for the unfortunate teacher, approached him with these words: 'Poor stranger, you shout, you scream, don't you see that it is hopeless?'

"'Yes, I see,' answered the Just Man.

'Then why do you go on?'

'I'll tell you why. In the beginning, I thought I could change man. Today, I know I can not. If I still shout today, if I still scream, it is to prevent man from ultimately changing me.'"

-- Elie Wiesel

I am in this FOR MY KIDS. They currently live in a country where people they know may well be disappeared someday and where we are currently murdering people around the world. They will not grow up watching their father ignore that, I don't care how futile it EVER is to fight it. They will have a chance to live in a free society with all the blood sweat and tears I can muster. I owe them at least that much.

Another thought:

Ron Paul is not a young guy, and even though he is healthy, he will be a VERY old man in 20 years!

Yet he has spent 20 years already in service to his country as a Congressman. You know his record and you know it was REALLY public service, not like the in-it-for-their-ego politicians. He I am sure is sacrificing his "personal life" on a scale that we cannot even comprehend, and he has committed the next 8 years of his life to that service as well. He has sacrificed a lot financially by not taking part in the congressional pension plan, to stand on principle. And he does it without complaining and I think it is even something he does GLADLY and his wonderful wife and family support him GLADLY because they understand what is on the line.

If your family is feeling neglected, then some education needs to be done at home. If you are personally feeling over burdened - definitely! - step back and take some R&R and come back if and when you feel ready to.

But I don't think coming here and encouraging others to, in essence, "lay down their arms" is helpful in any way.

right on|!

I suggest you do all you can for Ron Paul because he is the last honest man standing.

right on!

"What you say is what you get."

We've got to have Hope. Otherwise, we're Sheeple. We're finally blessed with the Dream Candidate of our lifetime, so I don't think giving everything we've got for six months is too much to ask for our Freedom.

I don't want to hear, see or say any negative, defeatist sentiments about Ron Paul. We have to Try.

Lois

right on!

It is less important for Ron Paul to win than for his ideas and outlook to be communicated to the mainstream and to convince people that they are worth having. Don't lose sight of the real goal here, it is not a person but a set of ideas that Ron Paul just happens to be the one of the most effective conveyors of.

i agree - and dear heart - dr. paul is the ONE doing it! who else is if not him? no one! no one!

we support the message and we SUPPORT THE MAN!

I don't even want to see this. If we're getting messed over by the MSM and we ARE, then it's our job to double or even triple our efforts. We need to get organized better than we are and get his message out.

They were talking this morning on C-Span about putting more surveillance cameras out to watch Americans. We are heading downward very fast! WE MUST WIN THIS THING! We simply MUST.

Let's get smarter about how we're going about this.

WE CAN WIN.

agreed - WE SIMPLY MUST!

Do I think Ron Paul is by far the best candidate for President in 2008? Yes.

Should everyone spend too much time and energy on getting him elected? No.

You must not forget that your first obligation is to yourself and then to your family. I would love for Ron Paul to win, yet if he doesn't I'll have to live my life as well. Just think if you found out that you had 5 years left to live? How would you look back at all this time being spent on Ron Paul getting elected? Would you have better spent it with your family?

I am not saying don't help out - but do so in moderation.

Looking at it objectively - Ron Paul is unlikely to win. The primary reason has nothing to do with the media - it is the people. Socialism is to blame. Too many on the dole in some way, and too few fitting the bill.

Everyone needs to read "How I found freedom in an unfree World" by Harry Browne

Sorry, but I'm going to fanatically continue promoting Ron so that my children CAN HAVE A BETTER PLACE....its called SACRIFICE....maybe you should lean a little more about what our forefathers sacrificed. I dont have 5 years to live....I have many years to live and my children and my children's children have hundreds of years to live which is why it is IMPERATIVE that we give it our ALL because if Ron does not win, this country WILL BE WORSE OFF!!.
