How can an economist think Ron Paul and John McCain have the right ideas (at the same time)? They're almost night-and-day different on economic issues.

Well, Luskin agrees with Ron, and apparently realizes that he'd have nothing to do if he worked as his "advisor"! McCain, on the other hand, needs all the advice he can get.

Yes, you have to remember Luskin latched on to Paul LONG before he was even hired as an economic advisor. I think it's unlikely his views have changed; he wasn't being paid to praise him on national tv prior to his hiring. The thing is he probably got a better offer, and though I would have denied it (would never sell out my country), he's likely getting paid more. However, with that loss, I still think Luskin supports paul (even though he's a traitor) and we've grabbed some great advisors in the foreign policy department today.

Why is everyone being so spastic about this. I'm curious why too, but there's no reason for all this hate. Theres a good chance McCain will be the nominee and if so I'd at least like him to have some reasonable advisors.

You guys are so fiercely loyal that you have blinders on to everything else and think anything that doesn't support the cause is a conspiracy.

Frankly that type of behavior really hurts the campaign. I got my parents and my girlfriends parents to go caucus for Paul on Tuesday and guess what they got to meet? Paul supporters bitching and complaining, saying they were really pro-choice and how much they hate Bush, being completely disrespectful.

They were left wondering if they were really supporting the right guy.

So for the rest of us, would you please shut the $%# up?

Well, yeah, but isn't the idea of an adviser to not be a yes man and to give guidance to get things moving in the right direction? I'm not saying that is always how things work in practice, but McCain having an economic adviser who actually understands economics shouldn't be a bad thing.
