Last week someone dropped a dog off at my house. The dog is very beautiful and BIG. I already have a big female doberman who does not want to get a long with this dog. The doberman keeps attacking the new dog when in the house. My h is making matters worse by getting mad at the new dog when the female attacks.

When I am alone with the dogs they do not behave in this way. I have tried to help my H understand that they are picking up on his energy of tension and anger. He wants to treat them like they are people. He won't fall in with the pack mentality and become the Alpha. In stead he keeps letting the female dominate him he thinks she is showing him love but she is just dominating him. He doesn't see that to the dogs he is letting the female be dominate over him.

I am worried because the new dog is a big powerful doberman/akita mix. He is very smart and minds me very well. But he sees my h letting this female dominate him so he wants to put him and the female in their place.

We live way out in the sticks and I feel like we should have a powerful male dog on the property. There are coyotes, mountain lions, and some say bears around here.

I think to keep the peace I may just need to get rid of the new dog.

My bitch makes ugly faces at the young male dogs too.

She will growl and show her teeth but when he doesn't back down and she has her teeth right on his face, she starts licking him while growling. They make me laugh.

My dog was mounted by the neighborhood bullies (a Jack Russell and a chihuahua) at the same time. One was on his head the other on his butt. I didn't realize what was going on until I heard Mr Animal yelling at the dogs and running the mean little bastards off. When he got back, he told our dog to "have some pride". :D Our dog retired from dogging years ago, he just doesn't give a shit anymore.

To be clear the claim here is that the human is not reducing himself to the laws of the jungle enough for your tastes?

Perhaps humans shouldn't act like dogs, no matter what they wish a dog would do.

As Cesar would probably say, you don’t have a dog problem, you have a Husband problem. That being said, it will be far easier finding a new home for the new dog than it would for your Husband. I hope you can train your Husband, but if you can't maybe giving up the dog is the next best solution. Good luck with whatever decision you make.

If you have a big dog that wants to dominate you just about have to take the Alpha role unless you want to let the dog run the house.

If you end up not being able to keep it, check local vets. Many times the staff will know people who would love to adopt a dog. That's how we found a home for an abused dog we found. We already had 3 and couldn't take on another.

Maybe your dog was asking for it by the way she was dressed.

It's what bitches do!

Here is my girl making faces at the young male.

And this is what happens when he let's her get in his face.

If you have a big country that wants to dominate you just about have to take the Alpha role unless you want to let the country run the world.

Alpha role is pre-emptive display of aggression that is not in self defense. It doesn't end well.

I agree with your theory of dog behavior but it isn't/shouldn't be a prescription for human behavior.

I don't know, seems like the human female is hard wired to propogate the species with alpha.

You mistake the unevolved decisionmaking of the (culturally retarded) North American female with the heightened sensibilities of those more advanced. If not to move past the limited short-term decision making of the lesser primates, what purpose is our unique ability?

Can't expect automatic veto of biological reaction by all females as soon as protection from the wilderness is no longer needed.

But I can expect biological reaction to be only a portion of what guides decisionmaking in 2015.
