I'm thinking about subscribing...

Also, does anyone know around how many pages one magazine is?

I have too many subscriptions out. I like to buy them separately because I am a poor budgeter.

I did for the last year but my subscription is over and I won't be resubscribing. They have that arrogant tone a lot of Randians tend to have. Though I also like Ayn Rand and regard her highly and I am an atheist, I find that Ron Paul has changed me in some ways. So know exactly why they feel the way they do but humility and tolerance of others political and religious/philosophical beliefs.

Boycott Reason

Reason mag and its parent Reason org are funded by neocon "beltwaytarians."

We nicknamed them tReason mag for doing everything they could to stop the most successful libertarian in memory from winning the GOP nomination.

Weigel and his puppet masters are closer to Wonkette than Mises these days.

If Liberty mag is still around, get that. It's superb. Get the back issues in any case.

I can't recommend giving your money and attention to the Orange Line Mafia.

American Conservative and Taki Mag are far superior to the psuedolibertarians of Reason.

Here's a window into the strange world of Foundation Libertarianism:

Kos: Libertarians are AWOL on FISA

I'd rather donate the money to John McCain then support those phony "libertarians"

I don't trust Reason magazine. Buy Republic Magazine, American Conservative.

Does anyone know if The Freeman: Ideas on Liberty is good?

“I’m a liberal. I take liberalism to mean a belief in policy geared toward easing poverty, extending rights to every walking human who hasn’t utterly forfeited them, getting the government out of the morality business, regulating markets judiciously, ensuring the pervasive yet hopefully efficient delivery of non-market goods such as education, health care and national defense, and otherwise having the sense to let the private sector handle private concerns.”- Matt Welch, editor of Reason Magazine

Oh, and he's pro-Iraq war too. Not exactly my kind of "libertarian".

Not knowing their history or who they really are, I never read an entire magazine during my subscription because I didn't like it.

I do not recommend it.

I'll check out American Conservative though, thanks for the heads up Angel.

I read all three magazines. My favorite is Liberty magazine. The American Conservative's Oct. 6th issue was mediocre. Reason is still a good magazine. I subscribe to the American Conservative because I could not buy it anywhere in my town.

Read all of them in the library or Borders

Thanks for posting the url for Liberty Magazine! *bookmarks*

I was too harsh and yes, Reason still has some merit (to better fool the unaware!).

Forgot to mention that being a JBS members get you a great magazine, The New American. The real gun groups, JPFO and GOA, put out awesome newsletters.

We are in a libertarian renaissance! New pro-freedom periodicals are popping up like mushrooms after a storm (of statism).

For my money, it's all about Liberty and The New American. Liberty is frequently hilarious! The writers are cynical bitter smartasses writing for "their crowd" and don't pull punches.

Reason used to be funnier when Virginia Postrel was around. Their failed jihad against Ron Paul has left them dour, humorless, and whiny/cranky/colicky.

Their failed jihads against SoCons, paleos, Southerners, Russians, Germans, Muslims and every other group that fails to bow and scrape before AIPAC/Likud/SPLC/ADL has left them tetchy and miserable.

At least the cartoons are still funny! Sad that Brickbats are their remaining worthwhile feature. But it's just creative destruction at work.

I don't subscribe but I read their article occasionally. I enjoy them. Seriously what is with the tendency around here to chastise other libertarians for not agreeing with us on every SINGLE issue?

On another note, anyone read the online Capitalism Magazine?

That's an issue here, but I think that's not the problem with TReason. I'm fine if they disagree on some points with Ron Paul. I do, too, as do many others here. But they tried everything they could to bash him. It's one thing to debate topics. There has to be debate among libertarians or there would not be any progress. But it's another thing not to support or in fact actively work against one of the most popular libertarian campaign anyone of us has ever witnessed. They put personal issues, decade old feuds between different parts of the libertarian movement and (relatively) minor disagreements before the general cause for liberty. They deserve the stick they get.
